i'm on a tax rant today, because i have to go pay property taxes by 4 pm.

remember all of the hub bub in wisconsin where i live about scott walker and the teachers?

he cut state revenue reimbursement to teachers in the public school system by 7.2%. it was primarily being used for retirement and healthcare.

we're currently trying to recall him because "he ruined all of the teachers lives."

i finally open my tax bill this morning.

line 4: xxxxx school district percent increase: 7.2%

RED FLAG RED FLAG RED FLAG

i call the town hall. "what's this increase of 7.2% for the school district being used for?"

"it's being used to offset the cut the governor made to the revenue limits."

"so, the teachers didn't actually lose anything?"

"well, you can't really look at it like that..."

i'm speechless. good thing we're going to spend another 3-4 million to try and recall the governor.

no, they only take cc, check, or money order. if you make an issue out of cash, they table it until the next town meeting. then at the next town meeting, they'll take the cash, but then they fine you for being overdue on taxes. i hate the government.

They are a bunch of damn criminals.

Every year around tax time I feel like going postal. The house I currently rent the landlord pays 6k in taxes per year and that is in one of the lowest tax counties in the state, half of what I pay them per year goes to taxes, and insurance and some people still wonder why I rent.

I call up the tax collector every year and ask why my taxes are so high, why I pay 50 times more than someone who lives in a single wide, I don't use any more services than this person (more than likely much less) but because I am responsible enough and have made good enough financial decisions I have to pay for someone elses kids to go to school when I don't even have kids. The guy said to me last year "everyone has to pay their fair share" to which I replied verbatim "right, fair share, now explain to me in what manner of anything resembling logic is it fair that I pay 50x more for the same services someone else receives simply because I do not blow all of my money on beer, cigarettes and scratch off lotto tickets? To me this more like the old "from each according to his ability to each according to his need"

The government sucks.
