There are currently many fake gold and silver ingots and coins being sold out of China. Many of these items are made to a high quality and are hard to tell from the original for those not familiar with the original items. Below is a list of some of the current fake types available.
Some currently faked silver ingots:
1 ounce Sunshine Mint
1 ounce Scotsdale
1 ounce Pan American
American Prospector

I was aware that the Chinese were faking numismatic coins like Morgan dollars and such, but this is the first I've heard of them faking regular old bullion. I always assumed the cost of producing fake silver bullion would be too high for the amount of pay off, but maybe not. It makes those nice shiny Mercs more attractive though!

If the stuff ever does take off to the Moon, looks like the market could end up flooded with fakes of all types.

I was worried about that even when silver was in the low teens if the price of silver did indeed start going "to da moon"

What are the dimensions of the bar compared to a real Silvertown bar? I just looked at 1 oz bars from 4 different makers in my collection and all are pretty much of identical size: 28.8mm x 49.8mm x 2.3mm (rounding to .1mm). Also, every one of them weighed from 31.21 grams to 31.36 grams. That 32.7 grams on your bar would get me suspicious, never found a .999 bar or round that heavy.
Also, your fake is almost too good, looks better than some brand new stuff I've got.
Can't tell you how much I hate finding they're now faking generic bullion.

A "Panda" cut in half below, if they'll fake their own coins---
Wonder what it is about the Chinese? Remember the poisoned pet food? They pay absolutely no attention to copyrights or patents. Is it because there are just so damned many of them that makes them so rapacious and uncaring of the rights of others if it means their personal profit? You'll find the sort in any society but it seems so ingrained and institutional with the Chinese.

Tom D...excellent photo--as usual...you spoil us!
RE: the disregarding of patents and copyrights....the way it was explained to me, is that the German's discovered a loophole in the US copyright/trademark/patent laws...there is a filing requirement overlooked for decades now, just like the registering/filing loophole in the mortgage scandal (MERS)....
They informed both the Japanese and the Chinese of this loophole, and all the happy happy copyright/trademark/patent holders in the US in particular are like catnip to the Germans, Japanese and NOW Chinese who are "in on the big secret."
That's what I was told. I would have to go back through my notes which are over 22 months old...but that is my understanding.
Hope this fragment of personal recollection helps.
