have an attic over my garage. gets really hot up there in the summer, and it's sat empty since i bought the place last year. seems like a waste of space. can't put food, medical stuff, etc. up there, so i figured why not fill it up with plastic garbage bags full of tp? ordering a few cases now...

No matter how many rolls you store, or how many cigars you smoke, you'll never be cuban!!

Keep in mind that toilet paper is designed to break down easily. Heat will expidite this and so will humidity. Heat AND humidity in an attic might be too much, especialy in a plastic bag where moisture will get trapped.

Granted Im in the deep south, my attic gets VERY hot and humid, but if its a little more dry, you can probably get away with it. Let us know how it goes ;)

good point. maybe i'll leave them out of the bags then. not too humid here in the summer.

Probably a good bet, even with low humidity.

Old milk crates might work. They are strong, allow air flow and are stackable. I keep a good chunk of our preps in them (inside the house, of course) and it makes life a LOT easier when it comes time to move them around or organize.

plus, i could always soak them in diesel fuel and make them in to incendiary bombs.

Seems like plastic storage bins would work best, mice love to make nests with that stuff.

Make sure you have good airflow in the attic, ie roof vents/ eave vents. Its very easy to add more.

Done it for 2 yrs now-

No problems yet. And BELIEVE ME - if there were a problem with it, the wife would let me know!

Divert 40 meters of your incoming water main service up to the attic in a piping coil.

Don't expect cold water from the faucet though. :)

Chad,
I have a large space similar to that in my shop - very hot attic area.
I use it to store:

Phone books (free, I pick up 10-20 at the store every time I go to town)
Empty aluminum soda and beer cans (for future solar air tubing, after cutting off ends)
Empty glass soda and beer bottles (they can't NOT be useful after a crash!)
Old clothes and rags, stored in cardboard boxes
Old appliances, pans, etc. obtained at yard sales and given away by relatives/friends

I throw almost NOTHING away... you know how hard it is to manufacture the "junk" that we take for granted in this ultra-rich society? ;)

LOL Gaillo, you would make a good Cuban because that's the way that it is down there.
