Walmart sees a deficiency in education in the U.S. of A. They are attempting to educate people who visit their express lane:

ha! that many? I only gots 2 hands, how can I count that many.
There is a second sign in the background. It is using a different picture than the hands to show 15 but I can't see what it is.
Self serve checkouts are happening here. I'm not going to use them. It's not because I "demand" service, it's about jobs. It's why I buy as much as I can from independents. Butchers, bakers, fruit and veg and fuel suppliers etc. You also get to know them. The kids that work supermarkets do a good job and they aren't all kids. It helps them pay tuition or buy the first car, clear the mortgage, have opportunities.
I use the 12 items lanes and often it's a fudge. Does it even up the times you have less and the times you have more?
Easy solution. Checkout machine is a machine. It can count. When it counts to 15 it gives the total and the people pay. Anything doesn't get through goes back.

The express lane is one of the few times I consciously try to be an asshole. If I'm behind someone who obviously has more than the limit, I count. I start in a normal voice as if I could be talking to someone beside me. 1,2,3,4.... As they near the limit, I escalate so there is no doubt what is going on. 13,14,15.... After the limit it's loud enough that everyone for at least 4 registers hears it. 28,29,30 etc. I know, I'm a terrible person, but they're worse.

I guess you guys aren't very good at math....
Three hands is appropriate; 3 hands with 5 fingers each = 15.

Just haven't seen anyone with three hands around lately. Conjoined twins?

In the old days I just to go to MaCdonald and if the bill was for $4.92 I would give them a $5.00 bill and 0.02 cents.....that would drive them crazy........not now because all that they have to do is to use the cash register.

I went to a deli the other day, weds exactly. Sandwich was $5.45. I gave them $5.95. All hell broke out. "Do you have a nickle?" "No I gave you change for 1/2 back." "What"..... "Do you have change" "I gave it, I just need 2 quarters back, my laundry only takes quarters" "I don't have the change" "Yes you do, just give me .50 in quarters" "What?!"
