http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=7248 ... Friday, January 13, 2012 Moments before this alert was to go out, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. issued a ruling upholding an Obama administration policy that requires federally licensed firearms retailers in states bordering Mexico to report multiple sales of semi-automatic rifles. The case was brought by two NRA-backed firearms retailers and by the National Shooting Sports Foundation acting on behalf of its affected members. Plaintiffs plan to appeal immediately—but in the meantime, your help is urgently needed in seeking congressional action to end this illegal policy.
Devised by Attorney General Eric Holder’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the plan requires all of the 8,700 firearm dealers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to report all sales of two or more semi-automatic rifles within five consecutive business days, if the rifles are larger than .22 caliber and use detachable magazines. (The plaintiffs in the case pointed out that this was about 20 times more dealers than had been subject to any similar “demand letter” before, but in today's decision the court nonetheless found the new requirement “limited in scope.”)
In July, the Justice Department announced (http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2011/July/11-dag-900.html) that it would proceed with the controversial reporting procedure. During consideration of the FY 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill, pro-gun U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) offered an amendment in committee to prohibit the use of funds for the unauthorized reporting plan and the amendment was passed by a vote of 25-16. Unfortunately, the Rehberg amendment did not make it through the appropriations process.

Much has transpired since then regarding BATFEs’ failed “Operation Fast and Furious,” and evidence is now clear that “Fast and Furious” was used as justification to force the multiple sales reporting requirement.

In early December, CBS News reported (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31727_162-57338546-10391695/documents-atf-used-fast-and-furious-to-reported) that BATFE “discussed using their covert operation “Fast and Furious” to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.” In particular, agency officials wanted guns to fall into Mexican drug cartel hands and be traced back to gun dealers in the U.S. to make a case for requiring the multiple sales reporting.

According to CBS, “Emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called Demand Letter 3. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or ‘long guns.’”

CBS singled out a July 14, 2010 email sent by BATFE Field Operations Assistant Director Mark Chait to Bill Newell, the agency’s Special Agent in Charge in Phoenix, where “Fast and Furious” was based. In the email, Chait asked Newell to “see if these guns were all purchased from the same [licensed gun dealer] and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales.”

Last March, U.S. Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) introduced S. 570 -- "a bill to prohibit the Department of Justice from tracking and cataloguing the purchases of multiple rifles and shotguns." The bill would prohibit the use of federal money needed to fund the multiple sales reporting requirement.

It is imperative that you contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to cosponsor and support S. 570. You can find contact information for your elected officials by using the "Write Your Representatives" tool at www.NRAILA.org (http://www.nraila.org/), or you can call your U.S. senators at (202) 224-3121.
S. 570 currently has 33 cosponsors. To see if your senators are cosponsors, please click here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:SN00570:@@@P
Again, it is critically important that you contact your U.S. Senators as soon as possible and urge them to cosponsor and support S. 570, and defeat the Obama/Holder Gun Registration Scheme.

Obviously the .gov has decided that their best course of action to curtail firearm ownership is to put the chokehold on the retailers.

I'm coming to the conclusion that until retailers start wearing "come and take it" T-shirts and tell the Feds to go suck chickin dick, the government will continue to take ground.

The RETAILERS need to start feeling it in the pocketbook - and they need to start getting an earfull from their customers. Tell them to Man up or we will buy somewhere else.

TT, these are the tools that I have to protect against the threat of my life and my liberty.

.223 - AR-15's
7.62x.39 - XCR it's kinda bulky
.308/7.62x.51 - DPMS (short barrel, lite and compact) and an FN FAL (Imbel - VERY HEAVY physically long gun)
45 (Handgun)
and shotgun (Semi-auto FN)

I'm thinking the following ammo purchases.
35% in .308, .
25% in .7,62x.39
20% in .223
10% in 45
10% in shotgun

What do you think?

Absolutely spot on brother. I was thinking the exact same thing before i even scrolled down to see your post.

I spent the day going thru and stacking my ammo, and loading all of my magazines. All i could think about afterwards was ,MY GOD I NEED MORE ! ! ! ! !

I am going back into full on prep mode. More food, more fuel and more ammo, not to mention more magazines. I don't really need more firearms, but ammo holy shite i could use a few thousand more rounds of 9 40 and 380 in JHP. Not to mention the buckshot and slugs.

Thanks Brew. I was actually thinking about the Marlin 70PSS Papoose because I like how it collapses, oh the irony.

Two things about ammo

It will never be cheaper or easier to purchase then it is right now.

Use it your advantage as much as budget will allow.

This kind of shit is almost getting cliché.

No offense TT - But I've stacked till im blue in the face.

THE people need to find their balls and begin to push back. I don't mean lone nut crazyness.

Justice for the fast - furious would be a good start.

You guys crack me up.

You'd do better buying 100 J-frames in .38 special along with 100 boxes of ammo. Not too many people will be humping AKs and sniper rifles around, but the need for personal protection will skyrocket. A good pocket gun with ammo will be worth a small fortune.

Nice thought, but you'd do better with a .357 and use .38 if you're going to go down that road.

Which is why I would assume the 22 would trump all

That is the preminment assasination pistol cause once it enters the body it dosent have the force to exit so it starts to tumble off bone or other organs and in the process turn ones insides into swiss cheese

Plus it helps that is sounds like a small cap gun that can easily be mistaken as engine or muffler backfire

Why double the price of the gun for a "feature" you'll never use? .38 in a .357 cylinder just leaves a burn ring. Now you'll have to buy 100 cleaning kits. Stick with the .38. It's not for you, it's for the old lady down the street or the Libs who hate guns but now are begging for one.

i like my .357 because it doubles the ammo choices. there have been plenty of times i've been out of town shooting/hunting, ran out of ammo, and the convenience store has lots of 1 but 0 of the other.
