70 should be the new 65 to ease pension crunch: study

Canada should consider upping the age when public pensions kick-in to help offset ballooning expenditures from an aging population, a new study suggests.

As they continue their prorammes of crappy GMO food, flouridation, and a crappy Socialist Medical health care system in hopes the people die off before they can start collecting....

By the time I am old enough to collect a pension they will have bumped it back to 90. People my age are never going to see a penny from the gov.

I agree. What's worse is that they will probably grab our pensions and 401k's long before then as well. Our only hope, really, is a collapse, and then start over again with a sound economy using real money.

Which is why you claim every deduction you can and large chunks of income should be salted away in percious metals over the course of your working lifetime.

you will get screwed out of the money they are holding but you can still get the last laugh and protect your clan if you play your cards right

When I get old and infirm I expect three hots and a cot.

My expectations can be easily achieved by Leavenworth or FedMax, probably far easier than by Social Security.

My plan is not to retire but work until I die. I enjoy my work.

This makes no sense to me. There is no end to the amount of debt that a nation can raise. Everyone is way past the place of either paying it back, servicing the interest, or giving a flying fig about additional debt.

I personally think all S/S pensioners should be immediately trebled in their checks. It's only paper...bond paper...and S/S workers especially in USA deserve it waaaaay more than European bankers!

If by some possibility this house of cards is still functioning by the time I retire....and my pension and SS not there. I'm going to get back at the system by just going into massive debt before I die. Leave loved ones PM's hidden out of the system. Get as many credit cards as possible, take out as many loans, and just live it up. We can't take anything with us when we die....but, we can leave behind massive debt. I didn't design our corrupt debt system of consumption, may as well use the system for the last laugh. Hookers and blow. He who dies with the most debt wins. :) Pension or no pension, I'm living it up when I retire.

So why wait. As soon as you turn down social security you can start drawing a check from them. I believe it is only around $600 a month though. No need to wait until 62, 65 or even 70. Check the regs. You can apply for SS one day. Turn it down the next and apply for the benefit on the following day.

They will not like you if you do this.

I really don't care if they like me. You have me curious if this is possible, Palani. The problem as I see it, is that I've got a normal job within the system. SS is taken out of my paycheck, beyond my control. I wonder if you did do what you suggested, you wouldn't be allowed to work a normal job again. I've got another 20 years or so to keep working and preparing.

What's funny though, is a good friend of mine. Retired, the most aware guy I know. We can talk for hours on doom issues. He collects SS, lives on his boat that's paid for. All he needs is food to live, etc.

He paid for some big projects to get his boat off the grid on credit cards. He doesn't care about the balance. Credit cards are unsecured debt. I'll probably do what he does, just rack up credit card debt...and when you die, it really doesn't matter anymore. *poof*, it's gone.

The guy I heard doing this was called Lloyd Smith. I believe he is up in Washington state. He said he was in his '50s, in bad health and couldn't work, and chose this method to get by. Adask had him on his shortwave program back around 6 months ago. He did include all of the details and the program is probably archived.
