Word started leaking out in Las Vegas earlier that Donald Trump's "major announcement" (http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/02/a-major-announcement-from-trump-tomorrow-113193.html) is to back Newt Gingrich (http://www.politico.com/tag/newtgingrich), and sources are confirming it to POLITICO.

The announcement is expected to come at an 11:30 a.m. press conference tomorrow that The Donald (http://www.politico.com/tag/donaldtrump) is holding.

The move is a bit unexpected, since Trump had talked even within the last few days about how he may be compelled to run a third-party campaign of his own if he didn't see a Republican candidate who he thought could beat President Obama.

Gingrich (http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/02/newt-trump-knows-how-to-get-attention-113200.html) is the longer-shot choice in a field in which Mitt Romney has re-established himself as the frontrunner after a commanding win in Florida.

Trump was courted repeatedly by several of the GOP hopefuls. Gingrich, when he was soaring in his first rise before the Iowa caucuses, made a trek to Trump's Fifth Avenue office in Manhattan to ask for his support.

Instead of an endorsement, they emerged with Gingrich saying he'd gotten Trump to agree to an "Apprenticeship" (get it?) program in poorer New York City schools.

The endorsement gives Gingrich a needed dose of free media from the person who became the first to channel, in the GOP field, the desire by the grassroots to find a nominee who could take the fight to President Obama.

Trump is a celebrity. If he backs Newt, then that is a good thing for Newt.

Bankrupt: doesn't matter.

Bad hair: doesn't matter.

Total jackass: doesn't matter.

"Rich celebrity": only thing that matters.

I think Newt is still off 5 states ballots isn't he?

Seems like some extraordinary things have to happen and align just right in order for Newt to win.

Don't think it matters.

Wasn't Barry off some states ballots and he still won?

I don't really think it does either in the grand scheme of things.

Think I read it was 564 delegates he wont have access to out of 2500 by missing those states. He would need 1245 to win out of 1900 something which seems unlikely.

Trump to Endorse Gingrich? Romney?
http://www.cnbc.com/id/46236655

Major media organizations reported that Donald Trump is set to endorse Newt Gingrich's GOP presidential bid on Thursday. But wait! Others say he's endorsing Mitt Romney. The Donald is keeping 'em guessing.

The New York Times (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/01/in-nevada-gingrichs-words-are-sharper-than-his-scheduling/?scp=5&sq=trump&st=cse)andThe Associated Press (http://www.cnbc.com/id/46235409/), citing Gingrich (http://www.cnbc.com/id/45052263/) campaign officials, said Wednesday night that the real estate mogul and reality TV show host would make his announcement on Thursday in Las Vegas. The website POLITICO also reported it, but on Thursday, it backtracked. Citing Matt Drudge of the website Drudge Report, who has a relationship with top Romney officials, POLITICO's (http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/02/trump-guarantees-an-endorsement-circus-likely-backing-113259.html) Maggie Haberman said Trump may actually be endorsing Romney.
By late Thursday morning, the AP went 180 degrees, citing three Republican sources as saying Trump will endorse Romney (http://www.cnbc.com/id/45051863/). And the Times' headline was changed to "Gingrich's Flashy New Endorsement Is Not to Be. "The Times said "the confusion may reinforce impressions of disarray in the Gingrich campaign in Nevada."

The media reports followed a statement Wednesday from Trump spokesman Michael Cohen, who said Trump would be making "a major announcement" Thursday pertaining to the presidential race.
Asked about the possible endorsement Wednesday in Reno, Nev., Gingrich said he had "no idea what the Donald is going to do."

"He is always interesting," Gingrich said, according to AP. "And I don't know of anybody who does a better job of getting attention by announcing that he will presently announce something."
Stay tuned for the midday announcement.

I'll see your newt and call ya with a Harry Reid, Rahm Emanuel, Charlie Rangel a Kennedy and a Clinton!

That's what's called getting "Trumped"...;D

"Recipients include Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Harry_M._Reid) (Nev.), former Pennsylvania governor Edward G. Rendell (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Edward_G._Rendell), and Rahm Emanuel (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Rahm_Emanuel), a former aide to President Obama (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Barack_Obama) who received $50,000 from Trump during his recent run to become Chicago’s mayor, records show."
"The Democratic recipients of Trump’s donations make up what looks like a Republican enemies list, including former senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Hillary_Rodham_Clinton) (N.Y.), Sen. John F. Kerry (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/John_F._Kerry) (Mass.), Rep. Charles B. Rangel (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Charles_B._Rangel) (N.Y.), Sen. Charles E. Schumer (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Charles_E._Schumer)(N.Y.) and the late liberal lion Edward M. Kennedy (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Edward_M._Kennedy) (Mass.).

The biggest recipient of all has been the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of New York, (http://newyorksenatedems.com/splash/signup/splash01/index.pl)which has taken in more than $125,000 from Trump and his companies. Overall, Trump has given nearly $600,000 to New York state campaigns, with more than two-thirds going to Democrats."

Seems like Trump has realized the democratic republican divide is artificial. He is buying influence and legislative favors. Just before the summer he was banging the drum about Obama's birthcertificate. Obama comes back with an obvious fake birthcertificate, and Trump is stone silent. Obvious controlled opposition!

An old friend from Iran, who was very highly placed in the Shah's government and who now lives in refuge in the USA told me that Trump is a nobody and a front man for Persian Jewish bankers. I have no way to verify this. But it sure rings of truth.
