I saw this show on the TV guide and took a look. Basically it's a guy who has no self defence training. He is a custom tailor. He decides to travel the world and hook up with well known masters in a bunch of MA's. He has 3 days to learn what he can from them until he fights the masters best students.

Was actually interesting and sometimes intense show. If it's ever on where you are check it out. I think it's from 2008.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a sudden rash of survivalist/gunsmithing/pawnshop/martial arts/prepper/homestead/Doooom type shows suddenly appearing? ???

Yes it is. It lets me know that I need to stay ahead of the curve and take things up a notch.
