Smiley Face Killers - Authorities refuse to investigate possible serial killings of young college students

A serial killer or killers might be on the loose, traveling I-94 and seeking young male victims.

Young men of college age, often college students, are dying. They are most often found in water, probably having drowned, and with alcohol in their blood. These deaths are being called accidental in some cases, suicide in others.

These deaths are clustered near the "I-94 corridor", a length of highway that stretches through the Midwest to New York state. They happen in winter, and they do not happen during spring break or summer vacation.

Authorities insist that these cases are either accidental drownings or suicides, and that they are not connected to each other in any way.

However, independent experts have determined that a period of time -- in some cases as long as three weeks -- passed between their disappearances and their deaths.

Some suspect that a "date rape" drug was used to disable the victims, making it easy to abduct them from the bars and parties where they were drinking.

The AP article has been picked up by numerous web sites and newspapers.

Even now ABC, CNN, MSNBC and other major media have the nerve to print this: "Despite a lack of evidence, his parents, Steve and Jan Jenkins, insisted that there had been foul play."

Lower in the same article, however, they say: "In 2006, nearly four years after Jenkins died, there was a break in the case. A tip from a man in jail, described by Minneapolis police as a witness or suspect, caused police to change Jenkins' cause of death from "unexplained drowning" to homicide."

Smiley face killers may be stalking college men

Here's another quote:

"Hundreds of miles away, Kevin Gannon, a retired detective with the New York Police Department, was investigating the mysterious deaths of several college men from New York state. Each of the deaths had been ruled an accidental drowning."

The fact remains that "In the past 12 years, more than 80 young American men with bright futures and vibrant personalities have either drowned or disappeared under similar circumstances. "

But authorities refuse to investigate, insisting that the cases are closed and will not be reopened. Except in the Jenkins case, which raises questions about the other cases.

Perhaps if the victims had been women, the outcry would be louder?
