In reading the reviews, 20 years. Haven't read the ingredients yet...

It says 15 years.
I used one bucket for 20 days, all I ate as a test, (five days a week for a month) and still had over half of the food left over.
I ate most of the Potato Soup, Chicken Vegetable Stew, Mixed Vegetables, Beef Flavored Vegetable Stew.
I still have or gave away all the Oatmeal, Instant Potatoes, Macaroni & Cheese, Cheddar Broccoli Rice.

p. 3 of reviews:
A excellent value
Pros: convenient, easy storage, low cost, 20 year shelf life
Cons: none
Model Number: Chef's Banquet ARK 1 Month Food Storage Supply # 582275
"This product is a very good value and in an emergency could be a life saver. It arrived promptly and in a cardboard box which kept the bucket clean and in great shape (unlike other companies that don't protect the bucket in shipping). .
I would like to point out that there is a error in the COSTCO listing for this item. The listing states it has a shelf life of up to 15 years. The product says 20 years on the front label. So that's a big plus.
Hats off to Costco for offering this product.
A tasty meal at 2100 calories a day which stores for up to 20 years and only costs $99? A great value indeed!"
Would you check your labels ximmy? Maybe they've been changed since this Jan. review?

Yeah, the labels on the containers say up to 20 years. I hope I'm not eating this stuff when I'm 50... :o

How did you like the taste/quality, etc.?
The potato soup was awesome, like New England Clam Chowder, I mixed almost everything else into this soup base over time. I never got heartburn and I was never hungry between meals.

I can't get the nutritional info link to work; is the claim of "No MSG" really true, or is it lurking in the ingredients under other names (i.e. autolyzed yeast, etc.)

I was looking at the freeze dried fruits.
They list the probable countries of origin. Lots of Chinese listed there.
Why wouldn't ximmy's find not list country of origin?
The freeze dried meat combo also doesn't list the country of origin.
Thanks for the link ximmy. I think I may try a few.

It's a PDF file; see if you can get this link to work:

is the claim of "No MSG" really true, or is it lurking in the ingredients under other names (i.e. autolyzed yeast, etc.) Yes, it's lurking in some of them along with partially hydrogenated oils and other junk. The worst dish is the innocuous-sounding "Chicken and Vegetables," which has a whopping 2.5 grams of trans-fats per one cup serving.
The strange thing is the label claims that there's a total of 22 grams of carbohydrates, yet 36 grams of sugar. ??? Maybe they left a decimal point out and it should be 3.6.
Also, do note that neither this dish nor the "Vegetable Beef" contain any beef or chicken meat.
The oats and mixed vegetables have no questionable ingredients, though. It's a mixed bunch, but it wouldn't kill you to eat these in emergency situations as long as you had other foods and drank plenty of water.

Waiting a few minutes & that PDF finally loaded. I think the 36 g. of sugar is probably correct, as it has 'corn syrup solids' as an ingredient; which I believe would act as a sweetener.
Will be passing on this offer. But thanks for the heads-up!

I'm sure it is too, but I don't think the "Sugars" amount is supposed to be larger than the "Total Carbohydrate" amount on labels.

So are these things individually sealed inside the bucket? Or how are they organized? If I open the bucket to use a few items while camping will the other things start to go, or are they mylar sealed?

Today in another thread ximmy linked to this thread which reminded me of ten years ago, when many of us at GIM1 were in that end-of-the-world mindset stockpiling. Talking about how our dumb neighbors would now in 2016 be starving while we munched on our Preps. We were so certain back then.
Fast-forward ten years to today and half of America is now OBESE while the shelf-life of much of our Preps has long expired:

You're bending my mind.
It is, how fast time flies by. I just had a couple of cases of mountain house #10 cans delivered. Going through some old preps recently, I had to toss some old canned food that didn't look right. I had vacuum sealed some dried fruit that went bad. It feels like a waste. A lot of my old preps I'm wondering if I can trust them.
I'm sticking to freeze dried stuff for preps going forward, because of the long shelf life. If SHTF, I won't be eating to enjoy meals, but just to refuel my body anyway. I can also catch enough fresh fish for myself and many others, if needed. Rice and fish, for dinner, can be quite satisfying and nurturing.
