Authorities said Tuesday they removed 11 children from a crowded home used as an address by a registered sex offender after they found eight confined in a small, dark bedroom with restraints tying some to their beds.
Along with the children, 10 adults were living in the one-story, 1,700-square-foot brick home in Dayton, about 30 miles northeast of Houston, Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter said. One month after a raid on the house, authorities are still trying to determine how the children are related and why they were there, she said.
The children, belonging to seven separate families, ranged in age from 5 months to 11 years, said NBC station KPRC of Houston.
Three who were age 5 or older had not been enrolled in school, Carter said.
The children were removed after authorities found two 2-year-old children tied to a bed during a January visit to the home, according to a court document.
A legally blind, 5-year-old girl "was in a restraint on a filthy mattress, and appeared to be in a daze," the document said. One child had a black eye and knocked-out tooth.
The adults told investigators they tied the children when they slept or took a nap during the day "for safety," the document said. An investigator noted that none of the adults said they saw anything wrong with the arrangement.
Two of the children had what authorities feared was pneumonia and were taken to a children's hospital. All have since been placed in foster homes, Carter said.

The secular humanists (collectivists/statists/Satanists/Pharisees[Talmudists]) have gained overwhelming influence by perverting/subverting our system of law ramping up hard in the 1930s resulting in no one being held accountable/responsible for their actions. This situation is called 'limited liability'. IMO this is largely because the people have been lulled to sleep by 'living the good life' (materialism).

there's a scene in "Breaking Bad" where Jesse, "Captain Cook", is on a mission to scare the people who ripped off one of his friends & dealers. he has a gun but he's not the assassin type. the couple that robbed his friend have just stolen an ATM machine.
meanwhile, there is a 6 year old kid, their child. he comes out & watches TV. Jesse takes better care of him than his parents.
anyway, i think it did a good job of showing a broken home combined with drug use.

Ala. -- Roger Simpson said he looked down the road and saw a little girl running outside her home but didn't give it another thought. Police, however, said the man witnessed a murder in progress.
Authorities say 9-year-old Savannah Hardin died after being forced to run for three hours as punishment for having lied to her grandmother about eating candy bars.
Severely dehydrated, the girl had a seizure and died days later. Now, her grandmother and stepmother, who police say meted out the punishment, were taken to jail Wednesday and face murder charges.
Witnesses told deputies Savannah was told to run and not allowed to stop for three hours on Friday, an Etowah County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said. The girl's stepmother, 27-year-old Jessica Mae Hardin, called police at 6:45 p.m., telling them Savannah was having a seizure and was unresponsive.
Simpson said he saw a little girl running at around 4 p.m., but didn't see anybody chasing or coercing her.
"I saw her running down there, that's what I told the detectives," Simpson said from his home on a hill overlooking the Hardins. "But I don't see how that would kill her."'Ran her until she dropped' Natalie Barton, Etowah County, Alabama Public Information Officer, told Reuters that a call placed to a 911 emergency operator reported an unresponsive child having seizures.
"It appears they ran her until she dropped," Barton added.
However, authorities were still trying to determine whether Savannah was forced to run by physical coercion or by verbal commands. Deputies were told the girl was made to run after lying to her grandmother, 46-year-old Joyce Hardin Garrard, about having eaten the candy, sheriff's office spokeswoman Natalie Barton said.
Savannah died Monday at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The sheriff's release said an autopsy report showed the girl was extremely dehydrated and had a very low sodium level. A state pathologist ruled it a homicide.
The sheriff's office received calls from concerned citizens who witnessed the girl running. An official with the local volunteer fire department also said rescuers thought something seemed odd when they responded to a call about the child.
"One of the ones who were down there said he didn't feel like everything was right," said Ruby Ward, vice president of the Mountainboro Volunteer Fire Department.

^ Kids, old people, and animals!
I just saw this on another forum, so sad! I don't see how it computes in people's heads that this is a good form of punishment. Even if the kid lived and it was a much shorter period of time, why would you use something like exercise to punish a child? So they will hate exercise for the rest of their life? That is like your dog running away, you calling it back, it comes, and then you beat the shit out of it.... WTF?

"It was pandemonium," said Rico Gomez, 23, who flew to Orlando to New Haven with friends just to buy the new Nikes.
"All I know is I paid a couple of hundred dollars for a flight," said Sky Smith, 26, also of New Haven. "I'm not leaving without my shoes."
