That chunk is as good as gone. Large chunks of ice slipping into the ocean have the potential to create huge waves.

Ooooohhh... longer than Manhattan. Scarrryyyyy!!! :o

NOT.

Superimpose Manhattan on an image of the entire continent of Antarctica, and you probably won't even be able to see it unless you blow the whole thing up to poster-sized.

Insignificant... I'm betting chunks that large break off all the time... ::)

Global Warming scare-tactic bullshit... fuck manpigbear and his envirotard BS.! :(

There is still time for a bunch of polar bears to hop on before it goes floating out to sea for enviro photo ops.

Are ice breaker ships responsible for (what looks like) the sloshed up broken ice on the top of that photograph?

Edit: now that I see the scale of the crack with that Manhattan overlay, probably not. But what do I know?

Some would say the flood of biblical times was created when a large chunk of ice broke off of Antarctica. Imagine the wave this would create.

Im not sure anything about global warming was mentioned and people seem to react that this is the case.At the moment its getting cooler, sun spot activity ect.

Pine Island Glacier last calved a significant iceberg in 2001, and some scientists have speculated recently that it was primed to calve again.
