"A vintage photograph circa 1900 from the Barnum and Bailey freak show.

This was the show's "fat man" who patrons found unbelievable. He was considered freakish and large beyond believe and average sized folks actually paid for the privilege of looking at him. Bill's point was that today, he's practically average sized and any stroll down a major street in a major metropolitan area, Any Fast Food Restaurant will lead to dozens of folks this size passing you by."

I remember seeing this Swedish comedian on TV in the 70's when around 9-10 years old, I thought he had stuffed a pillow under his clothes, because he was so absurdly fat looking...

Sad. And they're always the fellows in society who have the kindest, most gentle hearts .
I happen to not care about their fluffiness as long as its covered up !

Souplantation?? How the hell do you get fat eating there? Sheesh, even Mrs. BT will eat there, and she is fricking MILITANT about what she eats. If you are seeing a lot of fat people at Souplantation, that just tells me they might be getting a clue.

Now, Hometown Buffet... that's a different story. That place IS a freakshow.

People from Hometown Buffet go to Souplantation for desert?
I went to a Hometown Buffet once (didn't eat there)...holy shit about the freakshow thing! lol

Remenber way back when Red Lobster had all you can eat crab legs?
I personally ended that policy...I embarrassed the 400 pounders by how much I ate.
My God could I eat a lot when I was younger.

Personally, I refuse to eat at a buffet anymore. I got talked into going to the chineese buffet with the ex and couldn't eat from watching people act and eat like hogs at a trough....that might even be slanderous to hogs?

Must be west coast restraurants, as I've never heard of them.

EE, food wasn't as modified back then. But I'd challenge you anyday to how much King Crab Legs we could consume!!
I'd still be going up for more KCL when my dining companions were adjusting their belts & finishing dessert... they couldn't believe it (how much I could/can put away) lol! Good memories for sure!

I would have been a formidable opponent to you in my day. I could eat more then anyone I knew.
I had a friend that always wanted to put a warm cup of milk in front of my mouth to try and coax a the tapeworm out, he thought I had. I didn't gain a pound.
I quit buffets and eating like that a long time ago...it's definately not healthy.

EXACTAMUNDO !! Except that you don't even need to go to a buffet to see it, they do it at any restaurants. We only eat out a couple of times a year but when we do
I have to keep my face turned toward my own space & not even dare look around.
It's like beasts have been let loose and are ALWAYS there at the same time as I am. WTF ?
Sheeesh. No Thanks. GROSSSSSS. They make hogs seem like pleasant eaters compared to these beast-like gluttons .
I'M SORRY !!!!!

It's disturbing how many men are more primped, hairsprayed, eye made up and with perfectly trimmed facial hair, then the women the are with.

Being grossly overweight has become normalized to where we now give it an official name: Morbid obesity.

You can still get back on the right track with enough mental willpower. Check out this guy who lost over 400 pounds and now embraces living a healthy lifestyle
