Three Japanese tourists found themselves in an embarrassing situation after their GPS led them to drive right into the muddy waters of Moreton Bay.

The trio were trying to get to North Stradbroke Island in Queensland yesterday when they took the wrong turn.

They travelled about 500m through mangrove mud, apparently unaware of the 15km of water separating them from their destination.

Yuzu Noda, 21, said their GPS guide "told us we could drive down there".;D

Tourons.

We shouldn't be so hard on tourists. It was probably a rent-a-car, in that case, who cares? When I've rented cars, I've done even stupider things...like neutral drops. Reving the engine way up, then slamming it in gear for fun. It's great if the transmission doesn't drop on the ground. With multiple folks, and rental cars, is even more fun. Bumper cars. Pull up behind them then push them around a bit. Use your imagination, it really can be a lot of fun...:) (sorry rental car companies) We always took the full insurance.

I didn't know that you were guilty of such assholish conduct.

When you let the GPS be your brain, anything can happen.

I was travelling with a guy who told me I need to follow the GPS more often. I told him- OK, we'll try it. Put in the airport for a destination and it saw an underwater powerline as a road. I drove to the edge of the water as directed and asked if I should still follow the GPS.

maybe even some GOLD ! ;)

maybe some leeches too ... check your feet gentlemen.

mud gets a bad rep.

i'm going to be spending the whole day shoveling it ... got an acre to plow, by hand ... trying to gear up.

Really? And you think this is cool?
Shit like that is just what's wrong with too much of today's 'society'.
Sounds like you are even bragging about it.

The thing is, later on when crap happens to us it's, "Why me? Why does this happen to me?!"..

And most often the answer is, "We earned it."

What an absolutely asshole thing to do...

You could say I've had some wild times in the past, years ago. While not condoning that conduct, I still look back on those times with a smile. It really was the crowd I worked with that was the bad influence though. Some of those guys were really crazy.

I have no regrets though, as much as you may think I'm an asshole. That was fun, I admit it.

Oh, and don't ever buy a used rental car.

in high school i was a car park at a fancy restaurant in Ridgefield Connecticut.

on busy nights i invited a friend from school to help out.

he parked a customer's car on a remote part of the field we were using for a parking place.

just happened to be about 1 foot over the water level of a nearby pond, that the restaurant used to keep captive trout for customers who wanted trout.

the customer - big hefty guy - comes out at midnight and my friend goes to get the car.

it ended up looking like that picture of those tourists ... the customer is flooring it, spraying mud over the people who were behind pushing - myself, my friend, the restaurant owner, etc.

bastard didn't tip us ! ;)

you learn to drive a stick real fast if the customer is standing there and your tip depends on not grinding the gears.
