A couple of (not-so-close) friends of mine are die hard "support the troops", "they are fighting for your freedom", etc. type of people. We were having a cordial conversation and I challenged their premise that the troops are fighting for our freedoms, and I listed a few things like loss of freedom to travel, loss of freedom in banking, etc. I'd like to get a somewhat comprehensive list of freedoms Americans used to enjoy but have since lost since 9/11, so I'm hoping we can get a good list of examples on this thread to document what freedoms the average American has lost since the "war on terror" started over ten years ago.

I think just freedom in general, I don't think anyone would argue that we have gained any freedoms since 9/11 but we have certainly lost a lot.

mamboni's list is relatively short, because it is so broad, but the things such as right to privacy can be greatly elaborated on FISA, tracking devices on peoples cars, all of the collusion between jewgle, facebook and the NSA as well as all the cellphone carriers which turn over gps data when asked. A few years ago there was a FOIA request that showed sprint turned over GPS data to the FEDS millions of times in one year. They obviously spy on all of your banking transactions.

So I think the list of freedoms which we have left would be easier to list than the ones we don't.

I guess the only freedom I can see that came back after 9/11 was just the "assault weapons" ban, but that had nothing to do with legislation passed after 9/11 just a 10 year bill that finally ended.

Complete freedom of association.

What could be more important than that?

To me now, that is what I want more than anything.

all of the Rights in the Bill of Rights - gone or severely abridged.

Life Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness ... was, "Life Liberty & the Pursuit of Property" - where property is the fruit of one's own labors - Jefferson changed it ... anyway,
Life Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness AND Property - now the Sovietized US government interferes every step of the way.

the government persecution of small farmers is a good example.

NPR had an attorney on today's noon (CST) show who was covering this very issue. I wasn't able to listen, but might be worth checking their site for further info/link/transcript.
