Any German born after 1945 has been carefully nurtured to feel nothing but guilt for just being German. [You evil Bastards!] US Troops have been in Europe since WW2, not so much to defend Europe from the Soviets; but the keep all Europeans, but esp the Germans in line . [and that's why there are still US troops in Germany...]

This is the fruit of those policies.
