See ... they don't overtly screw over the operators of motor vehicles. It's all about PIZZA!!!! Circumvent that ticket by offering them a slice.

(WTNH) -- An eye-opening state police internal memorandum obtained by News 8 challenges state troopers in one barracks to out-perform their trooper colleagues by writing hundreds of tickets on Friday.

The memo, distributed at Troop I in Bethany and obtained exclusively by News 8, basically lays down the gauntlet and any driver on a state highway is fair game.

According to this document, starting tonight at midnight, patrols will be stepped up. The memo from Lt. Anthony Schirillo says in part;

"...we have to issue at least 60 infractions / Misdemeanors each shift for a total of 180 infractions in order to outperform both Troop F and Troop G.

"...One day Troop F issued 301 tickets. Troop G responded by issuing 345 in one day. We can do better...

"I am asking that everyone, myself included, contribute to this effort...

"NOTE if we happen to issue 350 tickets in one day that would be stellar."

News 8 spoke at length with Lt. Paul Vance, spokesman for the Connecticut state police. In response to the allegation that this is a quota system, which the state police union alleges, Lt. Vance said no one is given a quota, this is not a game, they don't do that, and have never done that.

Another memo obtained by News 8 says "The master sergeant and I will buy pizza for the shift with the highest total."

"outperform".... performance is determined by number of tickets written. What a wonderful business plan.

This just helps confirm what most of us already knew....That Police are here to generate revenue for the COMMUNIST STATE, and nothing more.

They are PIRATES on the high seas, using force and threat of lethal action, to collect the booty from their conquered serfs.

i got caught up in an imitation cop's fishing expedition this last Wednesday.

the reason he pulled me over ...
* for signalling a turn too far before i turned.
* for hitting my brakes too many times - in rush hour traffic.
* for having my windshield wipers on intermittent - on a day when it was raining on and off.

all my paperwork was in order. i am thinking about letting a few people know about that cop. i didn't get his name but i know what he looks like.

i could actually use some suggestions. i found these 2 pictures of actors that that cop looks like -

somebody Wenn ? Matt LeBlanc ? but this cop didn't have a hair mousse overdose.

the guy was medium build, had all his hair but it was gray, didn't have an "old" face. looked about 50.

any actors come to mind ? i want to have a picture that looks like him ... in case i further publicize the incident ;)

also, does anybody know a website where you can input 2 pictures and get a face that looks halfway in between them ?

contact your local PD, and ask who was working that shift in that area on that day. tell them you are considering filing a complaint.

Doesn't the ticket have his name on it? If it doesn't, Marc Stevens says he better show up in court to testify against you. If he doesn't, your case will be dismissed for lack of evidence. If you want to know who he is, call the court clerk and ask who the cop was that gave you that ticket.

I got a ticket a few months ago for 'improper lane change'. That's a total BS charge they use to justify giving a ticket to meet their quota. I won't go into the details, but I wasn't guilty of anything but normal behavior. I didn't break any laws (based on the facts of my case) and I harmed no one. The cop on a motorcycle was waiting close to a construction site looking for people who were trying to get around a construction crew that had one lane blocked off. He got me for accepting an offer from another driver to get ahead of her so I could escape the blocked lane. I took the offer without signalling a lane change. Ooops! Ticket was for $140, with a waiver if you signed up for a 'voluntary' driver safety class which cost $45 to enroll into. The cop gave me the ticket and his business card. I didn't want the hassle associated with this, so I went home and wrote a check and mailed it into the court. Six weeks later they send me back a check for $45 with no explanation. I no longer bother to go to court to fight a traffic ticket. Anything else I can do is a better use of my time. And they know everybody else has the same attitude, so that is how they fleece us. Viva Lex! It's a 'highway robbery racket'.

Good luck with your search for the cop.

The cop gave me...his business card. He pulled you over on a 'traffic (commerce) stop' to make you an offer you couldn't refuse least he use violence against you for not 'volunteering' to accept his business offer.

I no longer bother to go to court to fight a traffic ticket. Anything else I can do is a better use of my time. That is uber lame - there is NO better use of one's time than securing one's liberty and property rights.

That is uber lame - there is NO better use of one's time than securing one's liberty and property rights.

From a strictly cost/benefit analysis, I get paid enough that it would cost me more to prepare for battle in a courtroom, and then go and fight it with all the odds against me, than it would if I just pay the fine and save all that time and effort. I'm getting some good preps here for the next battle, and I might take the chance that some of the tactics I've learned here will work and save me at least the cost of the fine. Any excess cost beyond that I can write off as an 'education expense'.

Like most people, I'd rather not fight if I can avoid it. But if I know I can win, it may not be a bad idea to engage in a fight. Certainly is exciting--but not entirely in a good way.

i didn't actually get a ticket.

the incident happened on Wednesday, March 28.

the guy pulled me over for the three amazingly lame reasons i listed - having my windshield wipers on a rainy day ?! that my brake lights were flashing in heavy traffic at rush hour ?! that i signalled 200 yards before a turn, instead of 100 feet ?!

i wish i had got that on tape. it gives me the incentive to move forward the finish date on wiring my cars up with surveillance video, but i got enough projects to work on.

however, i have made some progress in dealing with it. a local firearms dealer i know has a lawsuit in federal court regarding an actual arrest; the arrest was not related to firearms. he was eating biscuits & gravy at a local restaurant.

i went and visited his store. i know him from the gym. he counseled me on how to proceed; i am proceeding.

i also found another local who has a website about corrupt cops in our town.

i would put location details ... but then it wouldn't be a secure un-disclosed location ;)
