Police: Electronic MDOT sign was hacked

DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) - An electronic road construction sign near Dearborn, Mich. displayed a racial slur early Monday morning, targeting a Florida teenager who was fatally shot in February.

The sign referenced Trayvon Martin who police said was killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in self-defense. It has yet been decided if Zimmerman will be charged in the shooting.

The Michigan Department of Transportation sign, which read "Trayvon a N*****," is located on Interstate 94 near Addison Street, west of downtown Detroit, WDIV reports.

Passersby noticed the hacked sign about 1 a.m. and called police who said they received numerous calls about the incident.

Michigan State Police troopers responded and contacted a sign supervisor to fix the message.

The control box on the sign was unlocked and the keyboard used to write messages was missing.

State police searched other construction message signs on the highway to make sure they weren't hacked. This was the only affected sign.

Police continue to look for those responsible in writing the racial slur.

Regarding a race war, I wonder if the Trayvon case is enough. I think it will take more to get violence started. Very few people have the nerve to actually take action. There's a lot of talk, but the ones who will start in on violence, well, they are violent already. They don't need an excuse. They will prey on the weak as they've always done.

I walked by a group of young black folks last night, on my way home. Same as always. If they blame me, being 3000 miles away from the Trayvon incident, to be at fault because I'm white. Let them. If they are bold enough to take action against me, any person with half a brain knows I have a right to defend myself.

It's obvious this is by design. They want a race war. It will have to take a lot more sparks, and even then, it won't be a full on war (shtf style).

I look at it this way. There's turds who are predators and use violence as their tool to harm others. These folks, are violent anyway, and will use race as an excuse. Then there's opportunists, like the L.A riot case, will use a lack of lawlessness to loot. Get caught up in the moment, seize the opportunity. Then, there's a lot of non-violent, good people, who will not lower themselves to that level. I believe, that the majority of people are good people, regardless of race. Who will not take part in any violence.

I've seen this first-hand in the inner cities. Most folks are good people and will not harm others.

I don't think we are giving humanity enough credit, here.

Biggest clue, again, is ZSM's sensationalistic/scripted treatment of it. ZSM's coverage couldn't have been more obviously pre-scripted.
