View Full Version : confronted the tsa last night

i had to pick up my brother in law from the minneapolis airport last night about 10.30 pm.

i pulled up to the ticketing/drop off area at the southwest gate where he was waiting for me. he threw some luggage in, and then he had to go back inside to get the rest of it at the baggage claim.

apparently i was waiting "too long" in my car for him.

2 tsa guys came up to my window and asked me what i was doing. i told them i was waiting for my bil. then they asked "to see my driver's license or some id."

i was in a bad mood as i'm usually in bed by 9.30 (and i have a 2.5 hour drive left in front of me at this point), so i replied, "i'm not inside of the airport, you're not a law enforcement agent, & you don't need to see anything. if you have a problem with me sitting here waiting for a passenger, go get a law enforcement agent."

they proceeded to walk away (i figured they were going to get leo at this point), but they just went to the next car instead.

my first encounter standing up to the tsa. i got the impression that they didn't know what to do when challenged.

Perfect response. Lets these thugs know that:

1. You ain't doing shit wrong (what "terrorist" is going to suggest calling in an actual cop?), and

2. You understand that these frauds have no real authority.

Nicely done!

You could have also loudly and publicly called their sexual orientation into question, but that may have been pushing it.

should add, i found it odd that tsa agents would be outside of the airport walking around, checking people out. although, i guess they are riding buses now, so nothing should surprise me.

They aren't doing that in my state YET, but when / if they do. I'll be using that response you gave them.

At the closest major city airport to my location, county police have been all over the departing passenger pick-up area for years now. No matter the time of day, if someone isn't actively moving towards a car with baggage or loading the same, they move the cars right along. On the other side of the terminal, where buses, hotel transports, airport worker transports, parking shuttles and cabs get passengers, the vehicles are allowed to sit until their designated departure, whether by time or amount of people on board. Defies logic, no?

Makes perfect sense. They've been cleared by airport security to sit there. Random cars coming and going have not.

The scary thing is, they could go get an LEO, and hype you up as a suspicious looking individual, sitting nervously at the terminal, refusing to leave, causing trouble and threatening them or other lies. You could have found yourself locked up in a cold underground concrete cell for interrogation.

Anyway, great job, Chad. We need more folks now to follow in your footsteps.
