food stamps, housing subsidies, welfare, lifeline utility assistance not enough to prevent threat of chimpout. Please give generously...

OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma City woman is facing a felony charge after being accused of threatening to blow up OG&E.
It all started with a look at the electric bill. Apparently, it was a bit too high for the customer. So, she picked up the phone, called OG&E and admits things got ugly.
"I remember flipping out, but I don't really remember what was said," OG&E customer Deidra Reed said.
Reed was enjoying her Tuesday afternoon until she learned she was charged with the felony of making a bomb threat. Earlier in April, police say Reed called OG&E and said, "I am going to blow OG&E up cause ya'll are charging me for electric I haven't used."

Police say Reed has a history with threats. In 2011, she was accused of making yet another bomb threat. However, she wasn't charged.
"I don't have a criminal record," Reed said. "I'm struggling to pay $40 a month for rent. How the hell am I to buy some bomb equipment. I don't even know how to make a bomb."
Reed says she wishes she would have done things differently. As for that electric bill, she is still not convinced she should have to pay. Reed is protesting a bill in the amount of $14.

Damn that's sad. Sometimes I think my life sucks, then I see stuff like this, or I run across the disabled guy that goes to my gym, and I get a massive dose of perspective.

Does anyone now when this type of entitlement mentality came along?

i think it may have really kicked into high gear under Lyndon Johnson, the "Great Society" programs.

he was pushing the Vietnam War & welfare programs at home. in the 1960's.

i don't think this mentality existed too much in the 1950's.

of course, to be honest, i see a similar entitlement mentality among engineers and other hangers-on in the US defense industry. it is basically a socialist enterprise - jobs provided by the US government.

however, i have found, they really don't like being reminded of this. they believe themselves to be anti-socialist.

I agree for the most part but The New Deal w/ Rooseshit was IMO the gate that opened this mentality for the masses.

It is sad that such an innocent woman should live in such privation. All of us here should hang our heads in shame that we have such bounty while this poor woman cannot afford a mere kilowatt. We should start a collection for this brave lady. In my book, she is 'da bomb.'

I was traveling with my boss one week. We got talking about the welfare system. He thought that because we are such a wealthy country that we SHOULD be giving more to the poor and through taxes. I tried to reason with him that taxes are not "giving" but taking and such welfare is not charity but suddenly an entitlement. I got slammed because he is the boss and he knew better than me.

She should take a lesson from the two older white people that come through my neighborhood every Thursday harvesting recyclables in their POS car. I guarantee they make a whole lot more than that. But then again, it appears they aren't lazy.

In OKC recyclers are paying 1.54/lb for spent brass, so what the hell is she waiting for?

My first Edison bill for the new place arrived today. $28.54 Ha Ha. No T V and I've been drying my clothes on a line. My "rent" however is in the four figures.

for we Ebonics Haiku enthusiasts, i am beginning to recognize the usefulness of "Yo".

it adds a syllable and it helps the haiku to rhyme.

coming up, one Ebonics Haiku Handbook.
