( ASSUMING A BIG DIE OFF )

what concerns do we have from the dead bodies ?

will .gov clean them up or leave them for the slaves to clean up ?

This is very bullish for activated charcoal filters and lime.

This is very bullish for activated charcoal filters and lime.

Not to mention shovels and gasoline.

Edit.....to include backhoes.

I figured with the welfare state shut down, the dead bodies laying around would take care of themselves...

if the person dies during warm weather and is not buried or brought indoors (or otherwise protected from flies), the corpse will become a seething mass of maggots within a week.

it will be stripped to mostly skeleton within another week.

personally i would suggest composting the bodies, after doing appropriate things like contacting relatives.

i just went through this process with a cow. started out as 1300 pounds of cow, yielded 250+ pounds of boneless meat, maybe more. about 100 pounds of organs (lung, liver, kidney, heart). lots of guts. heavy skeleton. a lot of the parts went into my "Fukushima free" compost pile.

in a true TSHTF situation, it would be logical to ask the question - should the bodies be used to feed people, pets, or farm animals ? this raises philosophical questions - to what extent do we lose our humanity if we consume human flesh ? the Donner Party didn't eat the deceased for fun - it was to survive.

Seriously? Feeding them to live stock and cannibalism?

Leaving masses of dead bodies out for carrion might be ok, unless you live right around it. Then you're just asking for disease. Theres a reason the dead are burried and burned and its not just so we feel better about ourselves.

Dead body disposal is priority one unless you want to see what it was like to live during a 12th century siege. Find a shovel, get to work.

Retention of our humanity leads me to think the good people of the world will be burning or burying the dead.

Might even be some sort of business in a post SHTF world.

I'll have to re-read Stephen King's The Stand and get back to you.

If there is a massive die off.....burying the dead will be the least of our worries.

The carion will take care of them

Dead bodies in the US decompose at a slower rate due to being so to toxified with chemicals, drugs, poisons and preservatives that the morticians now use like 30 or 40 % less embalming fluid than they used to 50 years ago.
