Skishing has to be the most testosterone pumping, crazy insane, sport I've heard about. This guy goes out in the ocean, with just a wetsuit, and a fishing pole. When he catches a big one, the fish tows him around. Then, when the fish gets close, he wrestles it. Oh, and he gets bumped by sharks too.

Combine fishing, swimming and water skiing--try not to add a shark-- and you get a most peculiar sport..

I've done something very similar with a spear gun while snorkeling and while on SCUBA. The general idea is to make the shot count so they don't drag you across the Atlantic but I got the ride more often than not.

i used to swim further from shore, 1/4 mile in 40 to 120 feet of water.

then i had a close encounter with a great white, in 2002. awesome & terrifying.

i figured i was wrong to 'test' my guardian angel, by continuing to swim where i knew great whites were feeding.

in 2008 another swimmer got nailed in the same area 150 yards from shore. nailed as in dead.

i am interested in learning Scuba because you're much less of a target for a shark when you're down 50 feet.

One of my regular surf spot was 100 yards north of there. After the '08 attack I stopped surfing there and stuck to Pipes up the beach, like that would make a difference. Last summer, my son and I paddled out back at the spot. I could never get comfortable and went back in.

My brother used to "free fish" for striper in the nearby lake as he called it after his float tube went south. Now he has a bass boat. A Gambler or something like that.

i had a woman engineer co-worker who liked to date Marines. so she heard their stories.

it's a regular flight for them, from Oceanside (Camp Pendleton), down the coast, the over to Miramar.

she said they said they said great whites all the time. said they looked like Cadillac's, just stood out - but they fly about 100 yards up.

i guess you could say this great white is skishing. it looks like that seal is getting away but it ended up being a meal.

seals remind me of dogs. at least their heads do, with the whiskers & everything.

I like the seals. They are a curious bunch. They are like dogs, very expressive in their mannerisms. I had one that popped up next to me every time I wiped out, just a few feet away. He'd pop his head up, look at me with concern. As if to check on me to make sure I was OK after the wipeout.

They will get close to you, if you are not prepared for that, it can be a shock.

The follow up photo, titled 'game over' shows the seals fate.

And that's the thing, when you are out in the water. The shark, is higher up on the food chain.

Oh cool, I do that. Only I don't use a wetsuit or go in the ocean. And I do it with women instead of fish. I call it snaching. ;D

Dude, that's more dangerous than skishing. You could end up with 18 years of indentured servitude!

I'll take my chance with the shark.

either way, you can end up with crabs.

actually, crabs can be quite useful. they can reach places rarely touched by dental floss.
