I use straight zinc oxide... Smells like shit but seems to work well and was recommended by a nutritionist. I would be interested to see if others disagree and/or what they recommend? From mainstream, don't go in the sun and if do put these nasty chemicals on you! What a joke!

The truth is even uglier.
It is suspected that atmospheric nuclear explosions cause skin and eye cancers. Atmospheric nuclear explosions have been banned worldwide because it has been determined that some radioactive particles don't fall out and just stay airborn in the atmosphere, some for decades. Immediately after first explosions it is believed that statistically significant cancer cases were found.
So...
Sunscreen and sunglasses won't help you against radioactive particle getting in your eye or on your skin.

I used to use sunscreen before I knew better. Now I use nothing but don't let myself burn too much and the sun pretty much leaves me alone and tan.

SO - get an American vehicle and drive on the other side of the vehicle, with your left arm out the driver-side window.

Direct exposure to the sun over time Is not good for you at all. My grandfather lived into his 80's and always wore long sleeved work shirts or coveralls at work or home. The skin exposed to the sun had spots and wrinkles on his hands and face. But when he would take off his t-shirt. the skin underneath was as smooth and unmarked as a baby's ass.
This story ran in the news recently .

Exposure to the SUN IS VERY GOOD FOR YOU.
When we get brown spots and wrinkles on the sun exposed areas (or non-exposed areas)---
this is caused because the sun BRINGS OUT the toxicity from the body.
It's called dirty blood.
The more toxic your blood is--from eating & drinking toxic food & water & also chemicals from meds, smoking----the sun draws it out !
That's why skin cancer is so high.
The sun is blamed for causing the skin cancer----but in reality it's just bringing the toxicity to the surface of the skin where you can see it.
I'm white as a sheet. White as rice. I should burn to hell & back when I go out in the sun. I'm a sun addict.
When you have the proper nutrition in your body, your skin will tan instead of burn, my skin turns into a bronze tan and does not burn because
I put super nutrition into my blood.
Juicing is your internal sunscreen. It cleans your blood, detoxifies you so that the sun doesn't have to pull out anything dirty from your blood.
Beets, beet greens, celery , carrots, blueberries, apples, kale, spinach, tons of different herbs, and on & on & on------JUICING----cleanse the blood----and the sun will tan you & not burn you-----if not use tons of sunscreen to poison you from the outside-----it gets absorbed into the skin & into the blood & toxifies you 10x more than before.
Juicing is like giving yourself a blood tranfusion at home. A whole new life.
I can get the whitest person to tan for the first time in their life through doing this. It's really just simple back-to-the-earth stuff again.
Edit: There's other ways to do the internal sunscreen screen thing tho--like liver detox---dandelion & milk thistle, burdock
kidney cleanses---like parsley & juniper etc....drink them as teas, eat the herb, dry & pulverize the herb & make capsules etc.
Those herbs all help clean up your insides, too, and keep your skin from looking like your 100 from "the big bad sun".

http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2012sunscreen/ Great website, shows that all the sunscreen sold in most stores can cause cancer, but there are many that are good for you. If you're white like me, and live in a tropical environment, you need sunscreen, hats, etc, etc. If you live up North, you're fine, and probably need more sun, not less. I know many people who have to strip butt-ass naked in front of a doctor every 3 months, and have every square inch of their skin checked. If you wanna play that game, don't protect your skin.

You want to fight the sun's evil rays? FIX YOUR DIET.
Your skin is a DIRECT REFLECTION of what is going on inside you. Your body, (which was created by a genius architect) has every weapon it needs to fight off the daily bombardment we are faced with. However, it needs the correct ingredients to do this. You give your body what it needs; nutritionally; and your body does the rest. When you concentrate on 1 single thing in the body, you lose sight of the bigger picture.
It is like acne. Millions of young men and woman have been fooled into believing that if you put something EXTERNAL on your skin (Which is a snapshot of what is going on internally) this will somehow change what is going in inside. This is LAUGHABLE.
Why do people use things like lotion and chapstick? If either of these products actually worked, they would put themselves out of business. You would use the chapstick 1 time, it would instantly and amazingly fill your lips with gobs of moisture, and you would never have to use it again. It is the same thing with lotion. These things have wax in them, and essentially that is all you are doing is waxing your skin. It feels great for a while, but it ALWAYS gets dry again, and usually MORE dry than it was. Then BANG! You use more of their product.
Remember the old 'Dont eat chocolate' for teens with acne?
If the sun was so 'Evil' wouldnt there be an epidemic of mexican laborers dieing of skin cancer everyday? They spend 12-15 hrs a day in the sun, but eat mostly fresh veggies and fruit.
CHANGE YOUR DIET!

Bad example as they wear clothing and hats that cover most their skin.
I do believe diet plays a role but everyone will get sun damage to their skin if they are in the sun too long.

Kali, love, you sound like a modern day dermatologist, LOL.
Let me try to re-phrase something----you missed it-----
It is the sunBURN that causes the damage. When we burn that is what is causing the skin to wrinkle, spot, damage, look like leather, etc.
When you have super-nutrition (because we are bombarded with super toxins) in your body---you will be able to stop the BURN---NO BURN.
The FDA, cancer industry, .gov wants you indoors NOT out in the sun and when you are out in the sun to coverup & use loads of sunscreen, OK.
Sunlight is free, FREE ! , free medicine for ALL of us. Do not be ignorant of the sun because of the brainwashing, please. The sun is GOOD for you.
All the plant-life , grass & trees....all of it isn't out there diseased & sun damaged needing sunscreen chemicals applied all day.
So a very healthy diet is important, I agree, but we need WAY more than that.......
super-nutrition---it's sounds too easy until you try it & you'd BE ASTONISHED !!!!
That's why I am saying if you're juicing fruits, vegetables, berries, herbs
( nobody can eat all that at one time, juicing takes care of that--getting it all in one glass-full ! )
you are massively boosting your antioxidant levels to get the maximum protection from all diseases--not just skin problems/ sun damage.
These things of course cause toxicity that causes our blood not to be able to protect us from burning:
Processed foods
Pharmaceutical drugs & prescriptions
Shampoos & Conditioners
Most health & beauty products (creams, lotions, makeup)
Tap water (chlorine, fluoride)
Most deodorant & cologne
Cleaning supplies
Chemical fertilizers (used on most commercial produce)
Cigarettes
Pesticides & herbicides (found on non organic foods)
Hair dye
Oil products
Most plastics
Carpets, lino, paints & other building supplies
Fluorescent light bulbs (energy efficient bulbs)
Toxic Substances EVERYWHERE we GO ! Constantly !
When I was young I had to work out in the sun all day since I was old enough to walk.
Baling hay, picking corn, stacking wood, garden, cutting grass, playing, you name it. Never saw the indoors except to eat & sleep.
Oh hell yes, I'd get burned sometimes, everyone with butt white skin like me does, but now we know how to not burn !
We are all aging from the inside out--not the other way around--
And the build up thing is true.....increase sun exposure time a couple of minutes more each day (along with juicing of course)
and it doesn't take that long until you can do all day as long as you continue to supply the body with super-nutrition !
How do people do all day at the water parks and the theme parks & fun days, etc ? I didn't realize so many people are still hooked on
the mainstream "sun is bad" philosophy. Interesting. I have recipes for homemade/organic sunscreen somewhere on my other puter, I'll look for it 2mrw

I'm no scientist, but I'd be more inclined to believe that all the WIFI, Cel phones, Microwaves, Radio Transmissions, etc., floating thru the air is more likely to cause me to develop cancer that being outside in the sun. Too much sun definitely seems to toughen up the skin and cause age spotting from what I've seen, but cancer? Still not sure what the root cause of that could be. So many more factors at play than just "they got skin cancer from being in the sun".

I wish I could say your right OHL, I am sure you are to some extent, I am fair, I'd say I eat a good diet fresh fruits and veggies no garbage, no sugar or bread products, and when it is 110 outside and I am out there for 5 or 6 hours I WILL burn!

You're talkin' fruits & vegetables---good diet--I understand all that---
What I'm saying goes wayy beyond that. You'd have to try it to see what I'm talking about.
I help people do this ALL the time ! I just helped another lady lose 20 pounds and get ALL of her horrible bloodwork to NORMAL RANGE
BP down to normal through super-nutrition. Her WHITE skin is tanning for the first time in her life---she's almost 80.
I did nothing-she did it all herself----I just gave her the learning experience.

I told this to my gardener (mexican) and he laughed. Thought I was kidding so I invited him in to read it.
He said Mexicans always stay covered (long sleeves and head covering) and actually have terrible diets.
They make pennies so have to buy low quality processed food. They shop at Walmart!
And as far eating "eating mostly fresh veggies and fruit" thats now true even at all.
He also said most the men drink beer every night and smoke.
These mexican farm workers have the same diet as your typical american, if not worse.
My gardeners kids eat cheap cereal, mac n cheese, ramon noodles, flour tortillas with butter, and doritos almost daily (off brand of doritos).

I'm convinced that cancer is a dietary deficiency that causes the immune system to malfunction. As long as your immune system can keep cancerous cells from dividing, you won't have what people call cancer. If your immune system doesn't work properly, the cancer will grow unchecked. If you can somehow get the immune system back in control, the cancer will go into remission. I doubt that the sun has anything to do with skin cancer. It's likely that a lack of sun will get you skin cancer sooner than exposure to the sun. When your skin is exposed to the sun, it produces Vitamin D3, which is an immune system booster.
Old Herb Lady is correct. A good diet and some common sense will keep your skin tanned, not burned. If you don't get enough sun, take Vit D3 supplements. And sunscreen lotion prevents the frequency of light that causes vitamin D3 production in your skin from reaching it, and therefore sunscreen could be considered a carcinogen.

I have worked MANY years in landscaping and this is exactly what i saw. Most day laborers NEVER wear shirts and ALWAYS ate fresh food = non processed. I live in the west where it gets over 110*.
I hate when i speak from experience instead of what someone told me.

I was in a mexican resort - mexican, not american in mexico, where well off mexicans stay - and tell ya what, it is now very hard to distinguish between an average american and mexican resort. both nations, unfortunately , are fat. The only way you can tell is by the difference in ladies' booty , other than that overweight bodies everywhere.
OHL was not referring to THAT kind of mexicans.
