Rome never fell. The romanization of Europe was the secondary intent of the Romans; the first intent was conquest. I thought it was just in the cities too, but it's like that in a lot of rural towns as well.

I have noticed it to some degree in the smaller towns but it isn't nearly as bad in this area if you are out of the major cities.

Probably depends what country or region you are from. I am sure in some rural areas it is just as bad.
