Has anyone had one before? My parents just got one and with a google search of his name I found little to nothing. My first thought was he probably pee'd in public or something....

Every blue moon or so, I will get a note from such and such an org saying that an offender has moved into the area. Think there are maybe 5-7 scattered about my town. Have not seen one in over a year?? But every so often I check the texas offenders map for my area. Maybe the cost of mailing the notices is too much, I listen to my local donut eaters on my radio almost 24/7. And I know there has to be more of those offenders than show on the web map, because I hear when the gestapo gets called in for fingerprints/change of address, a donut eater has to do the paperwork.

Long winded way of saying

Yes!

I wish I could find the details of the case. I want to know why he is considered a sex offender.... Was it an 18yr old that had sex with a 17yr old and a pissed off mother or was he 25 with a 5yr old.....? Big difference!

You should be able to find out something on the web, If you know the name and play around with search words, state, town/city, etc. I think all states have a government web site that may help you. If you know where the crime was commited and the rough date of the act, can help. You would be supprised how much info is out there if you vary your search terms and such, is not easy but not impossible. Hell you may only need to ask the donut shop (cops) the info is public info, so you probably can find more than you care for but surly what you need.

Sex offenders are like bugs, that are kept in a jar, when they have been convicted and they play by the rules to keep them from going back to what ever cage they were let out of.

When I lived in a populated area there were hundreds of them everywhere. It's a business to track and target them and give people something to be afraid of. Many of them were statutory rape (18 year old diddling a 17 year old), or caught peeing. Many were not. It's not worth worrying about. It's a business just like drugs and incarceration. There's bad ones and good ones and they all are presumed guilty.

I am certainly not condoning any actual sex offence, but they have made it such that anyone could be an offender.

Keep your kids away from creeps.

I agree! I'm not concerned at all. This was at my parents house and I wanted to know to show them that it is probably not a big deal at all....
