Iran threatens to close strait if new sanctions begin
With the failure of negotiations between Iran and six world powers last week, the Islamic regime now says it has the right, under international law, to close the Strait of Hormuz to oil tanker traffic should an embargo on Iran’s oil go into effect July 1.

As far as the ships go, looks like the normal world wide deployment numbers. Most brass if given the choice would be at sea, instead of floating in a port. They can make more brownie points that way.
Looks like not all of the deployable ships are at sea. Going by the list at the link.

In some ways I feel I will see a big war on or near the scale of ww2 before I leave this earth. And I have already have lived more methinks, than 3/4 or more of my span. If you look at past world history, all of the signs are pointing that way for another big one. What remains is only , where/when/how it will start.

Business as usual, possible as the Navy does need to use these toys if they want their funding, but there are other factors at play that need to be considered as well:

I wonder where will Greece, Spain and Italy get that 450,000 bpd oil from now? Spoils of Libya? Interesting that the bulk of the PIIGS get oil from Iran.

Why isn't this on drudge?
I think it is overblown after first glance. Bucky cratered today. I don't think that Iran had any issue with that. The headline is that stocks rallied on Europe hopium. It's a good headline. The bucky drove things higher with weakness. The only place that didn't see the pop was the grains. I am thinking pressure to trick farmers to sell at these prices. Harvest is going to be bad if rain doesn't come soon.
China, India, Singapore, and quite a few other places all got waivers to keep getting Iranian oil. China was still going to trade for it regardless of a waiver or not. Granting the waiver saved face for the bureaucrats.
