slowbell = the slowly ringing bell at the top of floating buoys.

Is this correct, solid?

P.S. I was expecting you to come back as "Gas" this time! ;D

I'm confused. I thought Solid was taking a break, but instead of doing that he signs up a new account to post?

No need for a hammer, he left voluntarily and returned on his own. He wasn't banned.

Yep. He's admitted as much in other threads. The GS-US heroin is a hard habit to kick! ;D

Well, you had the nautical part right. :)

The term originated years ago when the bridges of ships had to use a telegraph to communicate with the engine rooms. The telegraph would ring a bell down in the engine room for the engineers, three rings full ahead, one ring and the dial set to slow is a slow bell.

In modern times, the term means ease back on the mains, or take her easy, it's a courtesy to all other boats to slow down sometimes. "Give the guy a slow bell", means slow down to be polite and not create any wake.

My thought was to return on a slow bell, take it easy, and not cause any wake on the forum.
