Awful wedding cake photos: Questionable creations prove simplicity is key and it's best to avoid a morbid theme

At any typical wedding the ceremonial cutting of the cake is a special moment with the cameras getting whipped out yet again.

However, these wedding cakes are definitely not typical and they're far from picture perfect.

While some of the creations are bizarrely morbid, others feature unfortunate spelling mistakes, wonky tiers, and questionable decorations.

Questionable cakes: While one couple opted for a cake in the shape of a headless bride another chose this purple creation - with a couple of mini Jack Daniels at the bottom

This hilarious collection of snaps from Cake Wrecks (http://www.cakewrecks.com/) proves that when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding cake it is highly likely that less is more.

One couple shunned a traditional white three tiered cake and opted instead for one featuring a photo of dead newly-weds.

The sinister picture shows two pairs of feet with morgue tags on, ‘Till Death’ is written across the icing.

A Halloween-themed wedding cake boasts jelly eye-balls, skulls and skeletons stuck into the sickly green icing. Perched on top is a zombie bride with her dead husband.

Another couple decided that they’d dedicate their wedding cake to their favourite heavy metal band, Kiss. Obviously keen to impress they threw in some patriotic eagle decorations and a tiny hockey mask too.

Other monstrosities include a lopsided four tiered cake covered in swamp green icing, a towering bright purple creation and a cake shaped as a headless bride.

For reasons unknown the purple colored cake has two flamingos on top.

One expensive looking cake is ruined by an unfortunate spelling mistake so the icing reads: ‘Love.Faith.Hope.Thrust.’

Another cake is sprawled with green frosting that says, ‘Congratulations on your weeding.’

As the summer wedding season gets into full swing, couples may want to stick to a good old fashioned fruit cake with white icing. But who likes fruit cake these days?

Points for effort: DOA often stands for 'Dead on arrival' or 'Dead or Alive'

Dodgy: The woodland-themed creation boasts an unusual coloured frosting while the white cake is complimented by the odd fish decoration

if it was carrot cake or a good chocolate cake, doesn't matter HOW ugly it is :)
