A good friend of mine was hired full time by a superpac which opened up an office here. One of the main participants with the superpac came into town from out of state to work in this office for a couple of weeks. He hadn't been to Texas before, however in all the other states he's been to recently have open carry. After a week of him open carrying his pistol in the office where she saw him come and go she finally asked him what he was doing. He said he'd been open carrying the entire time he's been in town for that week, everywhere he went, restaurants, stores, etc., thinking that Texas law allowed for open carry. No one challenged him, and he was shocked when he read up on Texas law. I can only imagine the 'oh shit!' moment...

Do they have concealed carry? I would have never imagined Texas not having open carry.

Yes, Texas residents can ask permission and receive a permit (license) from the state for concealed carry, has been in effect since '94.

I used to live in Texas and I saw people open carry all the time. Maybe they don't recognize that they need to ask permission from the state to carry a firearm.

Shocked you didn't know that. I did.

█ Permissive Open Carry State
█ Licensed Open Carry State
█ Anomalous Open Carry State
█ Non-permissive Open Carry State
█ Rural Open Carry State

Texas will become California within 5-20 years. Just watch. Watch for Oklahoma too.

These states have declining White populations. Look at the percentages of White people in correlation:

Found this on wiki

"As of August, 2009, four states that currently restrict open carry as a remnant of the post-Civil war Reconstruction era[37] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_carry#cite_note-36) (Texas, South Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas) are considering making it again legal.[11] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_carry#cite_note-usatoday.com-10)[38] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_carry#cite_note-37) Bills were drafted in the Texas Legislature for the 2009 and 2011 sessions, backed by proponents such as OpenCarry.org, but did not make it to the floor."

I assume that in Texas if anybody sees an individual wearing a gun, they simply assume that individual is supposed to have one.

I think in Texas culture it's just not that big a deal to see someone with a sidearm. I remember being in a bank one day and there was a young lady with a glock strapped to her hip and nobody really thought twice about it.

Texas law controls Texas citizens. When you are in foreign states you import the law of your state with you. If your domicile of record allows open carry then you bring these laws with you wherever you might be.

'Course you have to know this and be willing to put it all on the line for "full faith and credit".
