US 'building missile defense station in Qatar' ... The Pentagon is building a missile defense radar station at a covert location in Qatar, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The site will be part of a system intended to defend the interests of the United States and its allies against Iranian rockets, unnamed US officials told the newspaper. The Journal also reported that Washington was preparing for its biggest-ever minesweeping exercises in the Gulf in September, calling them the "first such multilateral drills in the region." A similar radar has existed on Mount Keren in the Negev Desert since 2008 and another is installed in Turkey as part of NATO (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=1854');)'s missile defense shield. In addition, officials told the Journal that US Central Command, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East and South Asia, wants to deploy the first Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system in the area in the coming months, possibly in the United Arab Emirates. – AFP

Free-Market Analysis: It begins to come clearer, as has long been anticipated by at least some of the alternative media (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=723');): The global elites behind the tensions, wars and economic problems afflicting the world today are deliberately setting up a regional conflagration in the Middle East.
As part of a larger bifurcation between ally and (manufactured) enemy, the powers-that-be are dividing the Middle East by whether or not countries are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This is part of a dividing line that has seen Western elites (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=610');) try to set up various hybrid economies in such places as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Elite-affiliated Bloomberg is setting up a Middle Eastern equivalent of LIBOR in Qatar called QIBOR. And the military base being built in Qatar is surely no accident. Nor is Al Jazeera – also likely controlled by Western powers-that-be via Qatar.
The West's involvement in this bifurcated manner (divide and conquer) is important to note at a time when much of the alternative media is still fixated on the idea that the US is involved in attacking various countries on behalf of corporations that want to confiscate resources without compensation.
Certainly his latest move in Qatar should be seen within the context of the larger elitist penetration of the Middle East in Tunisia, the Ivory Coast (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=2111');), Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria, etc. These aggressive actions taken together constitute a new, unannounced regional war.
While this startling large war continues to be downplayed by the mainstream media (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=1861');), it has been widely discussed in the alternative 'Net media. Probably because of aggressive reporting by the alternative media, the New York Times actually reported on the US's involvement in April of 2011 as follows:
U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings ... Even as the United States poured billions of dollars into foreign military programs and anti-terrorism campaigns, a small core of American government-financed organizations were promoting democracy (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=1862');) in authoritarian (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=2606');) Arab states.
The money spent on these programs was minute compared with efforts led by the Pentagon. A number of the groups and individuals directly involved in the revolts and reforms sweeping the region, including the April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights and grass-roots activists like Entsar Qadhi, a youth leader in Yemen, received training and financing from groups like the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute and Freedom House, a nonprofit human rights organization based in Washington, according to interviews in recent weeks and American diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks.
The work of these groups often provoked tensions between the United States and many Middle Eastern leaders, who frequently complained that their leadership was being undermined, according to the cables.
Other reporting by alternative news sites on the web has made it clear that these "youth movements" were but a minor part of a much larger campaign to destabilize various countries.
This observation is a conflicted one because parts of the alternative media focus on such interventions as being corporately driven. But when one stands back and looks at the totality of the involvement it becomes clear that these incursions have turned secular regimes into pending Islamic ones.
The global elites that want to run the world do so via wars, economic depression and governmental authoritarianism. But a big tool is Hegel's concept of synthesis, which features first thesis and antithesis. The synthesis in this case is the Islamic Brotherhood (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=1835');), which is apparently highly penetrated by Western Intel.
What the powers-that-be are setting up in the Middle East is a further Islamic arc that will buttress a so-called war on terror (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=1877');) that is badly in need of a reboot. It is through this phony war on terror that the elitists intend to smooth the way for global governance (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=2045');).
While Syria seems to have been targeted of late, it is Iran that is the big prize. As we have pointed out in other articles, there is actually a significant question as to who installed the current regime. As in so many other instances, it seems the power elite had a hand in the Iranian Revolution and that the current tensions, and even the upcoming war, are in a sense manufactured to create conditions for yet more internationalism.
Fears of a closure of the strait – through which about a fifth of the world's traded oil passes – intensified earlier this year after Iran threatened to close it if Western governments kept up efforts to rein in Tehran's controversial nuclear program by choking off its oil exports. Tehran says its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes only. The United States is trying to prevent military action by Israel against Iran. In Israel on Monday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (javascript:showWindow(500,800,'/floatWindow.cfm?id=2057');) said Washington would use "all elements of its power" to prevent Iran going nuclear and was working in "close consultation" with Israel over how to do so.
The United States may be trying to "prevent" military action against Iran but it should be remembered that Western powers were responsible for Israel's birth in the first place. There is significant evidence that Western powers were also involved in Iran's "revolution."
Al Jazeera, the influential Middle East news service, is funded by the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa. The US helped install the emir to the throne. And Bloomberg has just set up a joint venture to create QIBOR, a rival to the maligned LIBOR.
Conclusion: When seen within a larger context, the construction of a missile defense base in Qatar is simply part of a larger elite manipulation that includes economic, regulatory and military aspects. The Middle East is the target and the goal of the manipulation is what some refer to as a "new world order." It seems to be proceeding.
