They voted to Fluoridate the water in Portland today. They had news stories about how Portland has the worst dental health in the country. That's total BS. Jackass politicians getting a kickback from the engineering firm that is installing the equipment to do this. I'm sure the dental association is paying them off too. The dentists in Portland all insist that fluoride on your teeth is essential to life, and won't entertain any difference of opinion on that.

I think the politicians have had enough with independent thinkers in this city, and want to dull down the people more than the public schools do. Too many hippies here in PDX.

I listened to the Corbett podcast with one ear, seems they said something about how some authority group had, in "darkness & secrecy", weaseled through the legislation to begin flouridating in 2014? that's recollection without listening again...

Either case, wouldn't be surprised if the bottled drinking water co's were quietly lobbying for it too- this will be a boon for them too, as the halfway "awake" fraction of the public will now clamor for weekly deliveries of the big 20L bottles to their homes.

I've heard the skin absorbs a lot in showers too, but what r u going to do? whole house RO filters cost thousands, and for apt. dwellers?

supposedly, you can buy these with an optional flouride filter, however, i don't see one listed. maybe if i dig around i can find it on the manufacturer's site...

The city council voted to fluoridate the water. The people did not vote on it. If the people had voted on it, it would have failed by a huge margin. Everyone I know who lives in Portland is against fluoridating the water, except maybe the dentists. If a dentist speaks out agaoinst fluoride, his career is on the line. I'm not going to buy bottled drinking water because that too is tap water from somewhere else. It's not necessary to buy bottled water in Portland. Most of the year you can get fresh rainwater to drink. Fluoridated water is good for flushing toilets.
