Laboring? ;D

Weedeating
Wiring the truck for a trailer
Cool refreshers on the veranda
refurbing a small cart

Then there's any number of other things that are always in the works too. One thing about it, none of them involve being on the road or water!

Every day is a labor day for me hahahahahahahah.....and as usual, I do nothing......I am retired.

As a matter of fact I thought that yesterday was Saturday...and all that I did was to get the kits
ready to go out on Tuesday.

I'd love to spend a day with you, but I think it would be sooooo exhausting! Where do you find the energy? :)

Rules are often made for the breaking, and lambs ARE pretty tasty! ;)

Enjoy your feast.

I pull the beet, cut off the top notch with the leaves. Peel the beet. Slice it in 1/8 inch slices on the mandolin slicer. Let sit in a mixture of 50% Apple Cider Vinegar 50 % water for a few minutes. PUt on the Dehydrator. Then I salt it. I mixed up some Real salt , garlic powder, little pepper and littler cumin and celery salt. (just mixed up what tasted good) Sprinkle on the slices and put on the dehydrator.

I have not ever tried these before. I have been trying to find stuff that could be used as snack food. You can also dip the beets in olive oil and bake the beets at 350 for 30 min. But I wanted to keep them longer than 2 or 3 weeks.

I have a lot of beets this year and trying not to can them.. I have been making beet Kvass. I fermented a bunch of them ( I have read that they dont taste too good, so I will have to wait 20 more days and find out.) I eat a beet and the greens in my morning smoothie every day. I hope that the chips are good!

Started it off right by laying around after I got off work yesteday with a glass of Scotch on the rocks (The Famous Grouse)
3582

Today I put up 112 bales of hay (square)
I also checked on my honeybees and almost killed the queen. She was on the OUTSIDE of the hive on the very top lid when I put it all back together after digging around inside and making sure they were still raising brood and putting up honey for winter. I got her back inside safely, but that is NOT where you want to find a queen.
Played with my kids for a few hours too.
Once the kids go to bed, it will likely be another scotch tonight. Going to try a Glenlivet 12 year tonight.

3583

Tomorrow will be church in the morning, afternoon I plan to go shooting since my field is nice an mowed. Probably spend most of the afternoon shooting trap and my handgun some just for practice.

Monday I haven't decided if I'm going to work yet or not, I have the day off...but if I go I can "bank" it an take it later. We'll have to see how many chores are left to do, but likely I'll be home working on cleaning the basement so I can have contractors come in and do some waterproofing magic (Basement Systems).

Any other Scotch drinkers on here?

Went into the city last light with one of my "enlightened" friends, and chatted over some very fine German pilsners. Today was biking; here's a shot from along my route. New England is really nice in September and October.

Started building an outdoor wood fired sauna at the cottage.

Got the foundation dug, footings poured & set, base built & insulated & critter proofed with wire mesh, walls are up & covered in plywood & typar'd.

Nestled in the trees along the shoreline about 25 feet from the lake.

Just got back , I am spent, and I feel like I lost 5lbs.
