i would like to get some tungsten slugs that are close to the size of a 24K product like the 1 ounce Gold Maple, the 100 gram "Tola" (?) bar, and the 10 ounce bar, to test out various counterfeit detection methods.

tungsten is a bitch to machine - i think, not sure.

my guess is, simple $ lust will motivate counterfeit manufacturers & sellers to eventually counterfeit 91.67% gold 1 ounce products like the Eagle and the Krug.

i'm not sure how that affects the counterfeit manufacturers. they have to mimick the silver/copper & copper components of the Eagle & Krug rounds. i guess they have a choice between making them with a small cavity to match the weight (it couldn't be all tungsten, that would be to heavy).

or they'll use a tungsten/ copper plate/ gold plate approach.

either way, the push for PM holders will be a continuation of that which started with that $600 tax reporting thing that got defeated. i.e. PM holders will be motivated to 'fractionalize' their holdings.

i.e. to go from 100 ounce bars of silver to 1 ounce rounds - MAYBE. simple manufacturing economies of scale might make the counterfeiting of 1 ounce silver rounds profitable - which would be scary. EVERYBODY would have to have a detector.

on the gold front, the push would be to convert to fracs, 5 gram & 1 gram bars, etc. but again, the counterfeiters would have a big $ reason to manufacture accurate replicas and sell them as the real deal.

i wonder if the US gov. and/or Israel associated entities will do some of the counterfeiting, to scare people back to the US $. they've done lots of other crazy things in service of the "strong dollar" policy.
