What you posted with those 2 posts (now in the new thread) was RELIGION, pure and simple. I see ZERO difference between the photos of nordic whitebread Christ you posted and someone coming in and posting several posts containing pics of Zeus, or Athena, or Satan, or Shiva, or whoever. Call it spirituality if you want to, but it is devotional art and song about a specific manifestation of deity, with a specific set of associated scripture and beliefs. That's religion, honey.

It doesn't work like that. Religion, God, should never be an excuse to do whatever the heck you want, and get "saved" when you decide it's convenient.

God is just too big for our puny mind comprehensions. All we can do is allow His(and I mean His in a very non literal sense) light and love to enter into our hearts. It's all metaphorical in description, but completely real in actuation.

There is a sense that occurs. A heartfelt sense that we are much more than just material meat critters squirming around on a planet called earth. Material life is really just a stage on which to witness GOD, or Godhood, or the totality of existence, or whatever you might call it.

Human beings put different faces on this heartfeeling, and OHL, among many others put a Jesus face on it because it's
easier to explain it and share it that way. She' already said a hundred times the she doesn't care one whit about establishment institutional religion. Why would she be spamming for something she completely disapproves of in the first place?

Gaillo has been banned for 7 days for his personal attack against StreetsOfGold. Although some may argue that SoG warrants a ban for his previous comment to Gaillo, I don't think it was ban worthy, although it was written in poor taste.

I haven't spent much time in the "religion vs spirituality" thread, so I can't comment right now on whether the removal of OHL's posts was appropriate or not. My personal view is that editing and deleting threads should be reserved for serious or blatant spam, not something that might be considered off topic or even thread-derailing. Off topic posts and derails happen all the time and are part of forum life. But I will spend a little time in the thread in question before I make a judgement call.

Well it doesn't work like this either. Jesus Christ is God who was manifested in the flesh, he shed his blood (God's blood) to take away the sins of the world. When you trust him he applies his blood to your sins as payment for them. God excepts nothing else for this payment. As a believer you are certainly not at liberty to do "to do whatever the heck you want"
While it's true a Christian has liberty, true liberty, we are to obey the scriptures
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

If you had to face God with just ONE sin, you would still go to hell. God is Holy and will not tolerate even ONE sin. This is what is so difficult for people to get because of their PRIDE in THEMSELVES. People get the impression that if they just live a good life and don't do anything too bad, that God will look upon them after they die and look at their good works vs. their bad works and then forgive them for what they preceive as a few sins that they have.

Consider what God says about your GOOD WORKS (let's just put your bad aside for the moment)

In comparison to God, your righteousnesses is not good enough for him. You NEED GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS and that ONLY comes by Jesus Christ

After you're saved you are required to be GOOD stewards of what God has given you (salvation) the FREE GIFT of God.

What a Christian can lose is.
His Joy
His fellowship with God
His peace
Rewards at the judgement seat of Christ (not the same as the Great White Throne Judgement for LOST people)
His friends
His family
His health
His ability to work
There are MANY things a disobeying Christian can LOSE if he continues in sin but NOT SALVATION! Salvation is a FREE GIFT and cannot be purchased or lost.

I've never butted heads with him until recently, but IMO he doesn't need to be moderator of the Religion Section.

Plus, if he doesn't want to be a mod, retire. It's not like this board is bursting at the seams with content that can't be policed. I understand it takes time and you get no monetary reward, I'm not saying he should be thrilled at the privilege, but I really think JQP would be fine with him stepping down if he has too many other things on his plate.

That's a good question, does the forum software allow folks to moderate just certain parts of the forum? Such as one or two members to moderate just the Religion section.

Gaillo's done a great job as mod, imo. He got pissed off and made a personal attack. He admitted it, and owned up to the ban. Most of us have gotten pissed off, some more than others...(myself). Getting a temp ban isn't a big deal. The forum will be here when he returns.
