Those who know and respect monsignor William Shomali, the Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar General of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, were surprised and disturbed by his declarations on the Talmud and on Israeli education in the September 30 issue of Famiglia Cristiana. Commenting on recent episodes of vandalism against Christian holy places by Jewish extremists, he claimed “hatred of Christians” was taught in Israeli schools and the Talmud itself.

“The Talmud, the holy book studied by the ultra-orthodox, more highly venerated than the Bible itself, invites religious hatred, speaks badly of Jesus, and even worse of Mary and, in general, of Christians” he said, adding that “in Israeli schools love for the other is not taught but rather the destruction of the other”.

These blanket, defamatory generalizations produced consternation in Israeli political representatives, Jewish religious authorities and friends engaged in interreligious dialogue.

A coalition of U.S. church groups recently made public a letter which called upon the U.S. government to condition future military aid to Israel (http://forward.com/articles/163937/church-leaders-slam-us-unconditional-israel-aid/) on its fulfillment of obligations under U.S. law. The statement was intended to express criticism of Israel’s use of U.S. weapons like cluster bombs in violation of our law and noted that U.S. military assistance provided Israel a buffer against undertaking any actions to advance a just and lasting peace. For example, its settlement policy, refusal to return to 1967 borders, and refusal to share Jerusalem, all directly contradict international law and stated U.S. policy.


Though these church groups have been critical of Israeli policy in the past, threatening to lobby for withholding military aid would really cut the Israel lobby to the quick, as it’s a position held by a number of anti-Zionist groups that are much farther to the left. The fact that mainline Christian denominations, who generally support liberal Zionist positions, would be moving in a more critical direction has to be deeply concerning to the lobby.


Though they refuse to consider or acknowledge it, such a development indicates a growing alienation of American churches from Israel and the draconian positions advanced by its government. The churches are willing to lose their interfaith dialogue with the Jewish community over such an issue, which indicates how seriously they take their opposition to the Netanyahu regime.


First to lash out in anger was (typically) Abe Foxman followed by one of Israel’s leading hasbara outfits, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. It appears to be taking the lead in “handling” the BDS efforts of a number of the Christian denominations. As such, it’s a key player in Israel’s campaign against so-called “delegitimization.” Those guys at JCPA play hardball. Not content merely to criticize the churches, they lashed out at the “anti-Judaism” elements within their ranks. They used terms like “vicious anti-Zionism,” “relentless attacks on the Jewish state,” and “delegitimizers of Israel” to up the ante and level of vitriol. I’m not sure what this is supposed to gain the lobby. Do they think that parishioners will be mortified to find their particular denomination is called out by name in a Congressional resolution? Should these groups then call on their particular Congressional allies to respond tit for tat? Should we have a mini-religious war in the halls of Congress?


For anyone who still naively believes that J Street is a real force for progressive values regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, read M.J. Rosenberg’s devastating critique (http://mjayrosenberg.com/2012/10/13/j-street-sells-its-soul-becomes-aipac-lite/) of their decision to join the Israel lobby coalition denouncing the churches. People like M.J. make the mistake (in my opinion) of calling J Street “Aipac lite.” I don’t think J Street’s allegiance is to Israel particularly. I think J Street is Obama’s Jewish wing. They are nothing more than a cover for him pursuing the Jewish vote. They never deviate from administration positions on any matter related to Israel. They attacked the Goldstone report, opposed Palestinian statehood at the UN, and now join with Israel lobby hysterics in railing against Christians for insisting that Israel obey U.S. law in its use of American weapons systems. In each of these positions they’ve betrayed progressive values, which is why they deserve support from no Jews who support a just resolution of the conflict.

SO, the question is: in this text of "Rabbis (some crazy!) arguing with each other", does it take the form of "statement > response/agreement/objection/etc > rebuttal > rebuttal-to-rebuttal..." etc, you get the idea, ??

IOW, are the socially-toxic statements we often see "quoted" as in the Rense page above, specifically & explicitly refuted elsewhere by other Rabbis, with then perhaps the original rebutting again, etc?

Pam Geller intended her bus ads, implying Muslims and Palestinians are “savage,” to deal a crippling blow to anti-Israel activism. The opposite is happening. By taking the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the streets of America, she is provoking widespread counter-advertisement on transit by pro-Palestinian groups. Local newspaper and internet swell the controversy, inviting an unprecedented public level of anti-Zionist argumentation and documentation. With a Zionist as unstable in her logic and use of language as Geller at the helm (plus her past utterances advocating nuking Europe and in support of Norwegian mass-murderer Breivik), the Zionist propaganda machine finds itself with representation that could well be more disastrous than beneficial.


This is because Geller’s provocations and vulnerability are uncorking a massive underground volcano of public anger at the abuses and atrocities of Zionism. As this volcano erupts, spewing new truth into the blogosphere, its fiery embers of indignation start fires of truth and light everywhere that surrounds it.


These emergent fires are now too many for the Zionists to put out. Criticism of Israel is now being reported by Zionists as “overwhelming” on U.S. campuses.



Liberal Protestants Erupt Against Israel


Several weeks ago, a similar volcano of pent-up outrage broke forth when a coalition of liberal Christian denominations sent a letter to Congress demanding an end of aid to Israel. This provoked its own eruption of astonishment and outrage from Jewish groups that Christians should have the insulting temerity to make such a recommendation without first consulting the Jews. As a result, Jewish groups, including the Anti-Defamation League, now refuse to continue traditional participation in the Jewish-Christian Round Table. Scheduled to be held in NYC on Monday, it had to be cancelled.


The University of California Student Association at UC Berkley also expressed unilateral independence of thought and action against Zionism recently. In September, they secretly adopted a resolution (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/univ-of-california-student-association-passes-secretive-resolution-condemning-israel-of-racism/) condemning the nation of Israel of “racism.” The UC pro-Israel, Jewish coalition on campus was furious that something like that could happen – anti-Zionists taking action without first consulting Jews! Rumblings of a Vital Volcano



More and more people, especially encouraged by candor about Zionism and Jewish control on the internet, are publically acting and speaking their minds against Jewish supremacy—presenting facts of history that cannot be effectively countered by Zionist apologists. They are doing so without fear of being labeled “anti-semitic,” i.e., speaking without Jewish permission.


They are also expressing primal anger at Israel’s human rights abuses and powers to repeatedly inveigle America into fighting no-win wars for Israel, spilling American blood to make the Mid-East even safer for Israel’s injustices.


Here in Portland, where Geller’s ads are currently displayed on public transit, the Oregon Area Jewish Committee complains that the ads, both pro and con, are meant to create “hate and confusion.” Actually, such a public forum, allowing graphic and incisive presentation of the issues is creating clarity as never before. At last, many are clearly perceiving the simple reality that the whole Mid-East conflict can be traced back to Israel’s violent expulsion of 800,000 Palestinians in 1948 into concentration camps, forbidding them to return.


Yes, such heated public dialogue is creating anger. Is such emotion dangerous?


As long as the anger remains an expression of righteous indignation and does not degenerate into anti-semitism (which claims that Jews are genetically degenerate and corruptive), such heat will only produce the light of truth. Geller herself is proving much more “savage,” too much of a loose cannon on the decks of Zionism, for even the most “savage” of the Jewish attack groups (such as ADL/SPLC) to have confidence in. I predict that their disapproval of her, which may have been feigned, will soon become real. In each city where the ads have appeared, individuals and organizations have denounced the placards, calling them out as the verbal cluster bombs they really are. In both San Francisco and New York, groups of bus and subway scribes garnished the ads with signs saying “racist” and “hate speech.” Interfaith groups have issued moving statements against them, and Sojourners, the Christian social justice organization, took out its own subway billboards, these ones saying, “Love Your Muslim Neighbor.” Even Fox News, which has been only too eager to shill for Geller in the past, deemed the ads “so inflammatory” that Happening Now, the network’s weekday news(ish) program, blocked out the word “savage” when showing viewers the ad.

Outrage has also erupted within the Jewish community, both within Zionist circles, for whom Geller often claims to speak, and without.

The Board of Deputies of British Jews, an umbrella body of pro-Israel Jewish organizations including some members of British parliament, have lodged a complaint with the Anglican church officials against Bishop Stephen Sizer of the Anglican Christ Church in Virginia Water, Surrey. The Jewish groups have charged Sizer for propagating hatred against state of Israel, Zionism and Jews.


One of the chrages against Sizer includes posting of an article by ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern, entitled ‘Israel’s Window to Bomb Iran (http://consortiumnews.com/2011/10/03/israels-window-to-bomb-iran/)‘ on his personal website. Sizer was proclaimed guilty of being ‘anti-Semitism’ by the UK’s Jewish Chronicle for linking the said article to its source, The Ugly Truth (http://theuglytruth.wordpress.com/). Sizer removed the link when he was told that the source was a racist website. The Ugly Truth is run by Mark Glenn, an American Catholic journalist, author and radio talk-show host. Mark is anti-Zionist regime but not hateful towards moral Jews. He is also the co-founder of the interfaith writers group, ‘Crescent and Cross’.


As part of Zionist double standard – the Jewish Chronicle itself supports anti-Muslim and anti-Black racist groups like the English Defence League (EDL) and the British National Party (BNP) – both of which support the occupation of Palestine by the European Jews. The Vatican on Monday dismissed anti-Semitic comments by the head of a rebel Catholic traditionalist group, saying the Roman church did not see Jews as enemies.


Bishop Bernard Fellay, head of the rebel Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), said last month that Jews were among those “who over centuries have been enemies of the Church.”


Jewish support for the modernizing reforms of the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council showed they were opposed to the Church, he said. The SSPX rejects the Council as a heretical event that betrayed age-old Catholic teaching and undermined the Church.



“It is impossible to speak of the Jews as enemies of the Church,” Vatican spokesman Rev Federico Lombardi said, stressing the Church position on this was “clear and well-known.”



“The Church is deeply committed to dialogue with Jews,” he added.



Fellay was among four SSPX bishops who were excommunicated from 1988 to 2009, when Pope Benedict reinstated them.



Talks between the SSPX and the Vatican to reintegrate them fully into Church structures ended in failure last year because the SSPX refused to accept Council reforms – including Rome’s reconciliation with the Jews – as valid Catholic teaching.



The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, a Jewish human rights group, denounced Fellay’s comments last week as a sign of “the deep-rooted anti-Semitism that lies at the heart of the SSPX’s theology.”



The Second Vatican Council “shifted the relationship between Catholics and Jews into a positive direction,” it said.
