I like the part of the baby traveling between the mothers leg and the "Baby sitter" with 13 babies......

Very Cute! But I am pretty sure they were all daddies not mamas, the mothers have the egg/baby and then daddies take care of it while the mamas go hunting for food.

They mate, and the male stakes out a nesting area. He spends weeks defending it from interlopers, as neither parent leaves the nesting area—even to find food.
Finally, the eggs come forth. The mother, even more depleted than the father after laying the eggs, makes a rush to the sea to binge-eat, replenishing her famished self and staving off post-ovum depression. The father stays around to keep the eggs warm.

Both the male and female switch off after the egg hatches.

Think of the parents as walking food storage and delivery vessels.

Uffffffffffffffff now more than ever I am glad that I had no kids........ many tell me "I love my kids and I would not give them up for nothing in the world.....BUT.......I would never have another".......I am glad as hell that I don't have to say that.

yes all animals are cute, especially babies, until THEY EAT YOU! Penguins might look all nice and gentle in their tuxedo's and dinner gowns but you better not turn your back on them, oh no. You should always keep one eye on them and the other eye, well as long as there's only one penguin you can look where you are going with the other one.... and if they start ice skating around you, get the heck out of there.

Penguins aren't as cute as they let on

'Sexual depravity' of penguins that Antarctic scientist dared not reveal (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jun/09/sex-depravity-penguins-scott-antarctic)

intro

It was the sight of a young male Adélie penguin attempting to have sex with a dead female that particularly unnerved George Murray Levick, a scientist with the 1910-13 Scott Antarctic Expedition.
