Police say a woman shot two people who kicked in the door to her house and one of the intruders died.
It happened at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 7200 block of Concordia Drive.
Dallas police said the woman was home alone when she heard a noise — two men had kicked in the front door of her house.
She confronted the two men as they reached the second floor landing and shot them several times, according to police.
The intruders ran out the front door and police said one of the men collapsed from a gunshot wound, he was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other man is still on the run.
Investigators said a gun was recovered at the home, which let them know that at least one of the intruders was armed.
A man and his 22-year-old daughter live at the home and say they had a break-in once before.
He told NBC 5 he taught his daughter how to shoot, and because she works at night and sleeps during the day, he left the gun by her pillow, just like he does every day. He said she was prepared when the break-in happened.

To avoid this.........right side and left side of the door frame screw in three to five inch screws into place......sic inches from the edge of the door and six inches back drill a 3/8 hole in the floor, at night insert a 3/8" by 7" long rod in the hole in the ground............you will be able to open the door for those six inches to see who is there in safety.......if they try to kick in the door (specially a metal one) they would have to also kick out the door frame itself..........done it to my home, do it to yours.......................also have a beeper alarm attached to the door in case thy use a false key to oppened it.
Do it now and you will sleep in safety tonight.........

Do it now and you will sleep in safety tonight.........
I sleep soundly, just like a baby.
Whoever breaches the perimeter is first going to run into one or two of my meatshields - which don't back down, instead they move forward.
And if the slightest harm comes to any one of my meatshields then whomever did the inflecting is going to have an extremely unpleasant experience...

Open the door and look down, the part that open is the "edge", from the edge go back alonside the door for six inches and and then back as you open the door anothe six inches, that will be the X where you will drill a hole where you will drop a pice of metal...when the door open it will the the rod six inches away from the doorway... you can see who is there in safety and if they try to force their way in it will give you more than enough time to run like hell or to get your weapon.
As you open the door all the way look to your right and your left and the flat part where the door rest is the jam.... four long screws space the same distance from each other per side and all the way in.....what you have right now is probable 3/4" screws that would be easy to break.

door frames are just 1/2 or 3/4 holding the door and shimmed into the rough opening (studs). They are usually just tacked into the stud enough to hold them there. Take really long screws and make sure the door frame is very solidly attached to the studs.
Then, drill a hole in the floor (into a floor joist) about 3/8 of an inch and deep enough that a rebar or metal rod won't drop through or easily be pushed out (as deep as possible, say 4 or 5 inches. Drill this hole about 6" inside the door so that if you open the door you can see who is there but it will stop by the metal rod. Get a 3/8 piece of steel or rebar that will stick up about 7" when you stick it in this hole (about a foot long, go figure). When you are snug in your house, lock your door, put the metal rod in the hole, and if someone tries to kick your door down it will take quite a lot of work as opposed to one kick. Then you have time to get your senses and your shotgun.
