60kg gold nugget gives Australian prospectors fever

A huge 60-kilogram gold nugget allegedly found near Kalgoorlie has the Australian mining community literally suffering from gold fever.
According to ABC News (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-10-19/nugget-photo-excites-goldfields/4322912?section=wa), the nugget has an estimated value of roughly $1.6 million.
The photo of the boomerang-shaped object has gone far and wide. Some experts quoted by The Australian (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/kalgoorlies-jumbo-gold-nugget-seems-to-be-a-hoax/story-e6frg6n6-1226499485895) seem to believe it is just a hoax. Others are more enthusiastic:
"It's enormous and you hear rumours of weights from anywhere between 27 kilos to 60 kilos," Acting Superintendent of Goldfields Police Darren Seivwright told ABC News.
"If that is a 60 kilo chunk of gold, that is a significant find.
"If it is, I wish it were mine."

hmmm 60Kg. Nice chunk there. Not as big as I thought it would be for 60Kgs. I wonder if there is an extra 0 in that number. Apparently found in Kalgoorlie so thats a good thing. You'd expect to find gold there. At least we know it's not from lassiter's reef which is still apparently out there. I get about $3 million in raw materials. 60,000 grams / 31 grams (?)= ~1935.5 Oz @ $1720 = $3,329,032

Bad math. You would sell it as a nugget if you could and I think that could double the value.

Just realized it's sitting on the back of a pickup bed ledge. Using the trailer ball as a reference, there's no way that thing weighs as much as a person.

Thats what I thought. The tow ball is the size of a tennis ball. Maybe just a bit smaller.

I'm getting a 6"x6"x6" cube of gold weighs 68 kg.

Calculation:

The ball hitch may be a considerable distance below the nugget.

How high could a pickup truck possibly be? I guess how big would the ledge be, and what size trailer balls are standard size? I can't imagine people anywhere in the world using grapefruit size trailer balls.

That thing might be 28 inches long, but is missing a lot of space to fill in bar density.
