White dudes playing good tunes.
Hardly happens anymore.

It's hard to believe that it has been 35 years since one of rock's best-known tragedies occured. On October 20, 1977, a chartered plane carrying the band Lynyrd Skynyrd--in the midst of a headlining tour and fresh off the release of their sixth album--crashed in a Gillsburg, Mississippi swamp.

The toll was dire: Three band members perished; the others were all severely injured. The drummer--who was one of the few able to walk--staggered out for help, and was allegedly shot at by an alarmed farmer. The band's record label scrambled to replace the new album's cover, which eerily forecasted the accident by portraying the members engulfed in flames.

Although the crash remains now and forever the darkest centerpiece in the band's legend--as well as a breeding ground for gruesome urban legends surrounding the various members' demises--fans know quite well it's far from the first or last tragedy the definitive Southern Rockers endured. In fact, Lynyrd Skynyrd has managed to earn the dubious distinction of "unluckiest band in history" over the years. Here's a cheat sheet to their unfortunate past few decades.

FUCK THOSE GUNGRABBING REPROBATES -

Hand guns are made for killin'
Ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me

"Saturday Night Special" isn't just a song to Lynryrd Skynyrd; they really did believe in their gun-play! So much so that bass player Leon Wilkeson actually took to wearing a holster and a real gun onstage - luckily the gun was only loaded with blanks. During their earlier tours when they were still an opening act, they were opening for Black Sabbath at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island. Black Sabbath fans apparently found this Southern band a little too mellow for their taste, and rushed the stage with taunts. When one fan got too close, Wilkeson drew his pistol and fired a blank over the heads of the crowd. Everybody immediately backed off and the show completed without further incident.

Yeah, 'playing' with guns lol - any MORON who takes to wearing a 'real gun' loaded with blanks is automatically nominated for a Darwin Award. Shitheads like that make responsible gunowners look bad.

Anyone who gives a fuck about those moral relativistic swine is lost. They consistently set an extremely bad example, which is why they're irredeemable reprobates.

In the late 1960's at our local rodeo there was a clown act that followed the rodeo circuit across the usa. Part of his act was he had a sawed off double barreled shotgun that ended up getting fired into the crowd, with lots of smoke and something like confetti. I always went every night to watch the show, and the last night my mom wanted to go with me. So we were enjoying it and the clowns act came up and he did his thing, and fired both barrels in our general direction. The edge of the pattern was about 10 feet from where we were sitting.

All hell broke out! Seems that someone changed out the shells (12ga) from blanks to bird shot, and a bunch of people got hit with shot. One person that I can remember had her eyes put out and was blinded. From what I can remember there was 25-30 people injured.

And another sad thing is the clown was a baptist preacher, when the uproar settled down, it seems that someone that did not like the guy swapped the shells out. And the clown did not notice it, it ended up that no one was charged for the act but from what I heard later that the preacher never again did anymore rodeos again.

Blanks have their places, but not around big groups of people without strong safety measures in place.

Imho!

Just calling a spade a spade. Just like those who are fans of Led Zeppelin, they're lost too. I used to be a big fan of Led Zeppelin - when I WAS LOST. Now I know better.
