I know, I know, accidents happen everyday, but this is weird. I wonder what he was researching?

British tourist, 36, dies after being hit by stolen car within an hour of arriving in Australia

Sean Barrett, 36, was in a taxi to Perth from the airport

A British tourist was killed in a horror car crash involving an alleged stolen car within an hour of arriving in Australia today.
Scientist Sean Barrett, 36, died when the taxi he was in was hit by the alleged stolen car which ignored a red traffic light, it was claimed.
He and his 28-year-old cab driver, named as Kuldeep Singh, were killed in the crash as the taxi was making its way into Perth at 2am after the tourist's plane had landed at the city's airport.

Police said Mr Barrett, a doctor of quantum physics and worked at Imperial College London, would have been in Australia for little more than an hour when he was killed.
It is understood he was due to speak at a conference on Tuesday.
His family paid tribute to him, issuing a statement which said: 'Sean was a brilliant mind, and a brilliant man.

'Anyone who had the pleasure to meet him in physics and beyond would tell you that.

'He was a charismatic man who had the rare gift to light up any room.

'He is a loss to science, and to life.

'He was cut short in his prime.

'Rightly, his family, friends and his colleagues whom he leaves behind are devastated.

'We would appreciate the time and space to grieve Sean's passing.'

The taxi was hit by the stolen four wheel drive at high speed while a police helicopter kept observation on it.
The PerthNow website said it understood the Briton was a physics doctor who had planned to two spend two weeks in Perth while attending a conference.
Police patrol cars had originally chased the stolen Toyota FJ Cruiser, which had no lights on, but dropped back when they decided the pursuit was too dangerous.
The 23-year-old driver of the four wheel drive, who suffered a broken leg in the crash, which occurred at a road junction, has been interviewed in a Perth hospital by Major Crash Unit investigators.
He was later charged with two counts of manslaughter.
Assistant police Commissioner Gary Budge said the 28-year-old taxi driver, who is of Indian descent, had collected the Briton from the airport and had been driving along the Leach Highway towards the city when the stolen Toyota allegedly ran a red light and smashed at speed into the taxi.
He said the police aborted the chase 'a long, long way from where the crash occurred.'

It is understood a police helicopter was till monitoring the driver and that the crew on the helicopter filmed the crash.
Mr Budge expressed his condolences to the families of the Briton and the taxi driver.
'I want to tell them that we will provide all the support that is possible to both of them.'

Maybe he was, this was his last twitter:

Certainly you appreciate that believing in the pure illusion of the status quo is a religion as well.

Two solids cannot occupy that same space at the same time!

Quantum or not!

Stealing a car and going about robbing people is a common practice for a type of people down here. We've had a few innocent people killed during high speed races. Some of them by the police. We had once recently. Police unlawfully killed a woman after going on pursuit without approval. Shot a red light and wiped the family car out.

The solution to this is to give police indemnity for killing people during the course of their work. This is supposed to be come effictive from the end of october. So we should start seeing a lot more deaths now. I'm expecting a big increase in road side shootings of the general public by police.

Solids are not as solid as our sense experience would indicate. Most solids are 99+% space. The fundamental question is "what is space?" Of course on the scale of cars, solids do meet our sensory expectations.

Theory does say that the atom is more like a solar system with the planets the electrons with the sun as the nucleus. And the same scale sorta apples so far as free space involved. And there are some that say that free space only looks free but is not. Several schools of thought and argument going on about what is true/right.

It's good to keep this story in mind, but unfortunately Death by Police in a high speed chase is becoming a common occurrence.

Moore narrowly avoided several vehicles as he raced up Crescent and took a left onto Quincy Street, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office said in a press release. He drove through a red light at the intersection with Centre Street and slammed into Kotsiopoulos’ car, causing an eight-car pile up that killed her and sent several other people to nearby Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.

The pursuit lasted less than a minute.

Burnham is asking why it happened at all.

“I want to know why there was a high-speed chase during rush hour,” Burnham said through tears, sitting at the kitchen table at his home Saturday morning.

but he was a theoretical physicist.

i have worked with these kind of guys, they spend most of the day drinking coffee, writing papers, drawing equations on whiteboards, emailing with colleagues ... they're generally pretty innocuous.

oh, and most of them have Male Pattern Baldness.

unless this guy had some hidden reason to be assassinated - maybe his hobby was outing Sayanim ? - it sounds pretty random.

but i was expecting some gorey pictures.

in case anyone wants some gorey car-accident pictures to go with the news -

There are guys who tow the vehicles from fatals. Special contract and skills sometimes needed. Might have to tow with deceased in situ. That type of thing. Tow means flat bed. They said that one was straight out high speed fatal. I guess they are well after the fact. Former police themselves.

Where the accident occured, I could see that the taxi drive might not be able to pick up a fast moving vehicle. If the vehicles lights were out it would be very difficult. Even such a big vehicle. The taxi was using an off ramp and turning right to go under the highway it had just left. The FJ was coming from the right down a fairly long gradient to go under the highway. If the taxi had been stopped before getting green he might have seen it, otherwise he came down the blind side and would have had a very tight view up the other road.

Remember we are on the other side of the road to you guys. We dirve on the left and to turn right we have to cross 2 x traffic. It's sad the guy died and the taxi driver. Another family man working the graveyard shift to give his family a good life.

this could very well be some kind of "fatal destination" movie, but the time frame and the stolen car are facts that any investigator would find suspicious.

I don't find it any suspicious at all. Lots of accidents happen with stolen cars...

sure, it all could be that I am stretching it too far this time :) but it is understood he was due to speak at a conference on Tuesday and worked for the Imperial College London, which I am sure is a masonic branch. was he going to leak specific info?

we may never know

Yes, if he was a Quantum physicist in practice, he would be alive somewhere else. Probably in Hawaii. In fact it would be virtually impossible to kill him... ;D
