Saying that some Nazis might have been gay is not equivalent to hate speech. It may or may not be true, but to go and call it hate speech right off the bat...Well, History doesn't work like that. We don't start with the conclusions we wish to be true, and then work out way backwards. We don't shy away from sensitive subjects just because someone might get their feelings hurt. History doesn't care about your feelings.




It's true that it seemed like the caller might have had an agenda. He tried to quote the CDC as saying "Homosexuality has health risks." What he should have said is, "I don't personally have a problem with gay people today. I'm just reporting on the facts - a respected german historian wrote a book suggesting that some nazis were homosexual".



Anytime you inject your bias into history, you're ruining it. Remain neutral and let the primary sources do the talking. Don't fucking quote the CDC in an attempt to make it okay to villainize homosexuality, that isn't even part of the discussion. What the hell does that have to do with hitler.
