http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2012/10/27/bc-earthquake-hits-haida-gwaii_n_2032340.html
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck B.C.'s coastal Haida Gwaii area Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usb000df7n#summary).
The quake was centered 202 kilometres south-southwest of Prince Rupert at a depth of 17.5 kilometres, said the agency. It struck at 8:04 p.m. PT.
Four minutes later, an aftershock of 5.8 magnitude (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usb000df81.php) was recorded 226 kilometres southwest of Prince Rupert, said the agency.
Earthquakes Canada (http://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/index-eng.php) reported another aftershock, this one of 4.6 magnitude in the Queen Charlotte region, at 8:52 pm PT.
Natural Resources Canada (http://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/recent_eq/2012/20121028.0304/index-eng.php) said it was felt across much of north-central B.C., including Haida Gwaii, Prince Rupert, Quesnel, and Houston. It said there have been no reports of damage so far.
A tsunami warning (http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?bc47) -- which means that widespread dangerous coastal flooding with powerful currents is possible -- is in effect which includes the coastal areas of B.C. and Alaska from the north tip of Vancouver Island to Cape Decision, Alaska.
People in low coastal areas are at risk and urged to move inland or to higher ground immediately, said several emergency agencies.

Apparently the one in B.C. was located somewhere north off Haida Gwaii, formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands. People in Burnaby said they never felt it but others in the Yukon and even Edmonton said they did.
Go figure.

the Canada gov. website has been warning about a larger (7.5+) earthquake for a while now. i first noticed it in 2004.
i wonder if this is a warm-up for a bigger one, or if this is it.
either way there's probably some surfers in Tofino waxing up their boards for some big humongous waves.
lots of large winter swells that are initially forecast to hit California-Oregon, in the 72 hour forecast, get sheared off and make a bee-line North, to the Washington & BC coasts, in the 24 hour & 48 hour forecasts.
Vancouver Island gets the direct hit.
Of course winter storms' bigger waves will break 1/4 mile off shore, whereas a tsunami will just keep on coming.
I know some guys in Santa Cruz made it a point to surf the Fukushima tsunami when it got over here last year. Of course it was only about 3 inches high, but it had a very long period that goes with a higher energy wave.
Once I got knocked over by a 6 inch high wave that came from a long-period swell in So-Cal. I stood sideways and just tried to enjoy it when I saw it coming. It ate all the sand out around my feet until there was nothing to stand on.

I got an email from an individual who lives on the west side of haida gwaii (Queen Charlottes). Said it was a pretty good shaker at 7.7. Only minor damage at his residence. The epicenter was about 35 km's away from where he is located. I'll call him later to get his reaction.

Talked to my colleague. Said it shook for around 2 minutes and after a minute or so he didn't think it would stop. Followed up by 5 aftershocks throughout the evening. No tsunami up there.

I don't think they're used to feeling much of anything around there, must be alot to handle at 7.1

I live in Vancouver and didn't feel anything. I'm situated right on a dike overlooking the Georgia Strait. No tremor, no tsunami, nadda. They like pumping the "big one" fear around here every year. It gets to be background noise after a while. I'm sure "one day" it may happen, but really, who knows. Don't think the people running HAARP want to destroy all this NWO infrastructure they've been building around here. Its too important to their commercial one world system...........

The first thing I thought of was Large Sarge's conversation with Satan (http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?58858-I-had-lunch-with-Satan-back-from-africa&p=516367&viewfull=1#post516367) about a tsunami in Vancouver. It was supposed to be in August, but maybe Satan had his dates mixed up.

Nobody I know felt anything on the east coast of Vancouver Island, but the Hawaiians went into panic mode with the tsunami warnings.
Ended up all they had to endure were 5 foot waves.
