I had an account with a local branch of Chase, AKA JP Morgan.
I had been thinking about closing it, for security reasons - something to do with not trusting them with my money.
This happened before, in 2008. I had an account with Washington Mutual.
After a while I had to admit that worrying about it was stupid, I should just drive down to San Diego, close the account, be done with it, get a mini-vacation in the process.
I drove down on Thursday, September 18, 2008. That was the day all hell was breaking loose, the Dow dropped about 800 points.
A week later, they pre-announced TARP.
Also, one week later, on Thursday September 25, 2008, Washington Mutual ceased to exist.
Wiped off the face of the earth, ceased to exist.
So now I'm wondering if my bank "Spidey-Sense" karma will hold.
If it does, in about one week, something major will happen to JP Morgan.
Of course, it's easy to make the call that major change is going to occur in the next 2 months, given that Jan. 1, 2013, and the "Fiscal Cliff" is now less than 6 weeks away.
Long story short, acting on my feeling that change is in the air, I bought a lottery ticket.
OK, admittedly, just plain dumb superstition, there is that. :)
But I think the Universe likes Change. I'm not sure how God feels about it, that would I guess depend on the type of change.
OK, this is the metaphysical part. When the Time rate of change increases dramatically -
dC
----
dt
where "dC" represents the amount of Change per Unity time - technically that is an "inflection point"
It is actually the double-derivative of the State of Society -
dS
----
dt^2
where S is the State of Society whose Change is measured by "dC".
These are mathematical models applied to society. I think there is a clean & clear connection, although nothing as simple as the normal things differential calculus is applied to, like a change in Voltage in a circuit or something.
Anyway, I have a hunch that when dC/dt increase dramatically, it's a good time to buy a lottery ticket. So I did !
And now back to our regularly scheduled Ranting & Raving & Jew-watching. :)
