View Full Version : Fess up, who's playing the $500M powerball? And a proposition

Libertytree

Howdy folks! Yeah I'm playing it and bought 2 chances @ $2 apiece. I played it last week and won the $4 I'm playing with this week.

Here's the proposition... If you want we'll treat it like a pool, all you need is the ticket that confirms you played and your agreement to split the winnings if anyone hits the total jackpot, notice I said TOTAL and not anything lesser. Of course this is an honesty policy game and I'll be the 1st to give out my numbers.

14 33 37 42 51 PB 07
04 06 11 31 33 PB 17

It matters not if you buy a $1 ticket or $100 worth of tickets.

Oh..... the drawing is Wed night.

That said, I play (only a single ticket) once every other blue moon for entertainment purposes when the payout is ridiculously high.

Does $500M qualify?

A lil info fer shits and giggles.

1 in 175 million: the overall odds of winning Powerball. (Compared to 1 in 3,000: the odds of being struck by lightning in Florida over the course of a lifetime.)
$327 million: the one-time cash payout on a $500 million jackpot.
25 percent: the tax rate on the prize.

So....who's in or out?

$500 Million - should be at least $300 Million after taxes.

seems like they usually try & get a sound-bite when someone wins.

"What are you going to do with the money ?"

"Buy 9 million ounces of silver."

i wonder if that would cause Blythe some consternation ?

Actually not really. There are hundreds of thousands of combinations that can be dismissed as so rare that they will never get picked. For instance, 1 2 3 4 5. So the odds, while true, are not really a reflection of the true odds when certain numbers are played.

Think of it this way. The roulette wheel has 36 numbers are two zeros. No way you get an equal distribution of those numbers over 38 rolls of the ball. Patterns emerge. Play the patterns are your odds are greatly enhanced to where it actually can be a smart play.

I've never done lotto before, just some bets at the dog track. If I do play and win I would reward your portfolios with a bounce in the silver price. Or maybe I'd really screw with them and lever up big time, take physical, flee the country and let the bullion banks figure out the rest lol

Anytime the various lotteries get huge, I play. I suck at picking numbers so use quick pick with cash option. No way in hell I want annual payments, they might stop paying. lol

Wife and I decided if we win, we will probably stay in our house as the main property. Stash the rest in gold bars! :D

Honestly, I'd probably travel a lot, mostly to places where I want to fish.

I figured you had a good hunch about what numbers is coming up, since I don't I figured it would be better to throw my money on someone who does.

What do you mean? No PB tickets in Turkey? You Mericanos think you have everything do you? Just for your information civilization started here in Turkey. Then nothing good happened for about 9000 years, and then came Atatürk and fixed everything, and since he died (but he really didn't die, because people have him in their hearts all the time), everything is getting a bit worse by the minute. So there!

LOL Guard, it would be nice to have 180 million dollars but is not somethig that I would die for.....like I keep saying "There is need and there is greed"....I am very neutral about money because I believe (really?) it would not affect my life that much......I keep thinking of those who I could help rather than what it would do for me....Why do you think that I still drive a 21 year old car?....... I assured you that is not for the money.
