same here. It felt like a network block rather than the site being down.

I saw a database error on a thread last Saturday - US day time. I was trying to post a reply or edit one. Can't recall which. Error passed after about 5 minutes. Did bring back bad memories of past events.

Over the last week or so the site at times seemed very sluggish and unresponsive at times. Would have to check other sites to determine if it was the web or this site. It always was this site.

perhaps MF or JQP could shed a little light on this for us...

My best guess (because I don't really know) is that it's just the forum servers being overwhelmed for a little while, especially if it's a fleeting issue that goes away after 15 minutes or so. I will have JQP chime in, but I wouldn't worry about it.

If there's some kind of backup software running, that could slow the site down? Would make sense for quiet time to be later in the evening.

I did not experience it, but saw these comments. I will check things out and report back.

I had issues yesterday also. Seems to be working fine now.

Apparently there were DDOS attacks on the shared server. They do not know what particular site it was. They reworked DNS, so things were switched around to defend against the attacks.
