I enjoy the deciphering part of these ancient notices and legal precedents, maxims etc. I like to see how language has evolved.
The f - s character is the main obstacle IMO. If you can remember to transpose the f character it gains a bit more clarity.

My interpretation:
A man's rights are presumed to exist not because he constantly defends them, but because they exist in their own right. They can only be dissolved if it is reasonable to assume he is past his natural life expectancy, unless he demonstrates otherwise.

The term 'droit droit' = right to rights (my interpretation)
