I just downloaded this book. I'm interested in how a man can aspire to 'permanent honor'. Is that something like being 'perfect'?
If you hire a lawyer, you are hiring an 'officer of the court' whose career depends on being in good stead with the court. The lawyer has more loyalty to the court than he does to his client. Therefore, hiring a lawyer is an affirmation that one is incompetent and deserves to be treated as such. Most lawyers are 'Attorneys at Law' and few people know what an attorney is. Here is the origin of the word from Dictionary.com:
Origin:
1425–75; late Middle English attournen < Anglo-French attourner, Old French atourner to turn over to.
An attorney will turn over your assets to the court, and claim a share of the spoils for himself.
Best to avoid attorneys as well as the courts, police, prosecutors and politicians if you prefer to stay whole.
