States to limit ALL Private health care under Obamacare

The story is, based on a "study", that under Obamacare, the States can stipulate the level of benefits for medications for ALL private health care plan holders. As I figure it, Obamacare puts everyone on a health care plan and the health care plan insurers are all private organisations. As a result the law gives the States the power to set the medications that will be covered by the plans.

So now you have a new level for ALL health care plan holders and it looks like its going to be lower for everyone.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A new study says basic prescription drug coverage could vary dramatically from state to state under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
That's because states get to set benefits for private health plans that will be offered starting in 2014 through new insurance exchanges.
The study out Tuesday from the market analysis firm Avalere Health found that some states will require coverage of virtually all FDA-approved drugs, while others will only require coverage of about half of medications.

Consumers will still have access to essential medications, but some may not have as much choice.
Connecticut, Virginia and Arizona will be among the states with the most generous coverage, while California, Minnesota and North Carolina will be among states with the most limited.

Maybe this will inspire people to take a serious look at alternative forms of health care. The reality is that that Big Pharma doesn't exist to "cure" people. It exists to make money and lots of it. And now the Government wants to force you to give them money. So many other options out there.

I don't see anything wrong with limiting the use of Big Pharma drugs, probably more than 50% of the drugs prescribed are not needed IE ADHD drugs for children and infamously abused Xanax etc.

Neither do I but for people who have had a private plan long before Obama care now find that their cover is going to be adjusted, not by them and their insurer discussing the persons needs. Their benefits are going to be reduced on the order of the Govt. So you do the right thing, pay the full cost of your cover and now because it's private and everyone gets private cover you are going to get less for your money. I'm having hard time putting into words.

It's like the socialist school example where everyone get the same score as the higest achiever. No one needs to do any study because they all get A's. But of course the brainy kids got to keep studying because his score is the bench mark by which all are rewarded. Then the A grade guy gets sick of the yoke and begins to with hold his/her efforts. The scores start slipping. Everyine is still getting the same score as the higest achiever it's just that the tide has gone out a bit and everone is lower on the scale.

It's like the perfect socialist model where it immediatetly starts out at the already lower level rather than starting at the higher capitalist level and grinding down from there. We can skip right past the grinding down part and start at the bottom from the begining. I think it could be utopia we are witnessing here.
