I was wondering WTF is a Senator doing as a Security Guard..

Thats a Beretta Tomcat, and NO security guard would use one. But Chicago politicians long ago fixed the laws so that they were legally (technically) in a category (such as security guards) that allowed them to carry firearms. As is well known, Illinois does not issue CCW permits.

Article states it was a .25 ACP which would make it a Bobcat, the Tomcat is in .32 (which is a decent round for what it is).

But you're right, anyone who knows anything at all about guns knows that generally the .25 is less effective than the .22LR in the Bobcat. There have been reports of people getting .25 slugs embedded in their foreheads (as in no penetration of the skull) - it's that lame.

I am waiting to see if this is just a headline for now. We are talking about ILLinois. I was surpriesed that they hit him with a felony. I am guessing a "deal" will be brokered where charges are dropped and he votes favorably for pension reform.

This guy is going to be a cheap whore for longer than he wishes.
