suicided perhaps?
Updated at 11 a.m. ET: A nurse duped by a prank call made to the hospital where Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was treated for an extreme form of morning sickness was found dead Friday morning, the hospital said in a statement.
Two Australian DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian of Sydney station 2Day FM, pretended to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and were put through to the ward. They were then given an update on Kate’s health by a nurse.
It wasn't clear what role the nurse found dead Friday played in the incident.
The woman’s body was found at an address in Weymouth Street, London, which is around the corner from King Edward VII Hospital on Beaumont Street. Police described the circumstance of her death as "unexplained."
“It is with very deep sadness that we confirm the tragic death of a member of our nursing staff, Jacintha Saldanha,” said the statement, which was released by the hospital's public relations firm.

“Jacintha has worked at the King Edward VII's Hospital for more than four years. She was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues,” it said.
“We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital. The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time,” it added.
Duke, Duchess 'deeply saddened'
A spokesman for St. James's Palace said that William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Kate were “deeply saddened” by Saldanha's death.
“Their Royal Highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time,” the spokesman added.
John Lofthouse, chief executive at King Edward VII's Hospital, was quoted as saying in the statement that "our thoughts and deepest sympathies at this time are with her family and friends."

"Everyone is shocked by the loss of a much loved and valued colleague," he added.
Lord Glenarthur, chairman of King Edward VII's Hospital, said Saldanha was "a first-class nurse who cared diligently for hundreds of patients during her time with us."
"She will be greatly missed," he said.
The police and ambulance services said the woman, who they did not name, was dead when they arrived.
“Police were called at approximately 9:35 [a.m. local time, 4:35 a.m. ET] Friday … to reports of a woman found unconscious at an address in Weymouth Street,” a spokeswoman for London’s Metropolitan Police told NBC News.
“London Ambulance Service attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Inquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident,” she added.
The police spokeswoman said the death was being treated as “unexplained” until an autopsy was carried out.
London Ambulance Service told NBC News that they were called to the scene 9:25 a.m. (4:25 a.m. ET].
Two ambulance crews and a duty officer crew went there, but the woman was found to be dead, the ambulance service said.

Is it too early to suggest the Crown was involved in this?

maybe i'm just a little paranoid, but there are many things wrong with this story...
for starters, why would such a respected, capable, and competent nurse commit suicide over a stupid prank call?? that makes no sense to me at all...
and from the youtube videos, the dj's seem to be kinda flip about the whole thing... something is definitely weird with this...

Caught this on the bike at the gym today. I switched it off after 5 seconds, due to the big deal about her morning sickness hospital visit yesterday.
"Oh my god morning sickness"....holy shit...stop the fucking presses. I can only handle so much pathetic retardation from the media at once. What a disgrace.
Now someone is dead?
......circus show.

I read one report earlier that said it was a receptionist that died. One minute receptionist the next it's a nurse..so which is it?

My take on what happened here.
This woman probably tried to get into the room on the pranks "authority", and they wasted her.
What else?

A nurse at a London hospital who took a hoax call about the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the nurse, named as Jacintha Saldanha.
King Edward VII hospital paid tribute to "a first class nurse who cared diligently for hundreds of patients".
Details of the pregnant duchess's medical condition were unwittingly revealed to two Australian DJs.
Mel Greig and Michael Christian, from Sydney radio station 2Day FM posed as the Queen and Prince Charles in a call early on Tuesday morning.
Rhys Holleran, chief executive of SCA, the company which owns the station, said in a statement the pair will not return to their show until further notice out of respect for Mrs Saldanha.
The duchess had been admitted on Monday for acute morning sickness, and was discharged on Thursday.
'Excellent nurse'BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said he understood Mrs Saldanha - who was staying in hospital accommodation close to King Edward VII hospital - was the person who answered the call from the Australian DJs and was not the nurse who discussed the duchess's medical condition.
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/64640000/jpg/_64640960_melandmike.jpgMel Greig and Michael Christian had said they were "very sorry if we've caused any issues"
Mrs Saldanha, a duty nurse who was married with two children, answered the telephone because it was 05:30 GMT and there was no receptionist on duty.
The BBC understands Mrs Saldanha had not been suspended or disciplined by the hospital.
The BBC's Nicholas Witchell said it had been suggested to him that she had felt "very lonely and confused" as a result of what had happened.
The St James's Palace statement said the duke and duchess "were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time".
A palace spokesman later added that "at no point did the palace complain to the hospital about the incident".
"On the contrary, we offered our full and heartfelt support to the nurses involved and hospital staff at all times."

In a statement outside the hospital, King Edward VII chief executive John Lofthouse said: "We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital.
"The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time."
He said Mrs Saldanha, who had worked at the hospital for more than four years, "was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues".
"Everyone is shocked by the loss of a much loved and valued colleague," he added.
Royal College of Nursing chief executive Dr Peter Carter, meanwhile, said it was "deeply saddening that a simple human error due to a cruel hoax could lead to the death of a dedicated and caring member of the nursing profession".
Scotland Yard said officers were called at 09:35 GMT on Friday after reports of a woman found unconscious at an address in Weymouth Street, central London. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
In a statement, Mrs Saldanha's family said they were "deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jacintha". They have requested privacy from the media.
'Very sorry'The prank call was pre-recorded before it was assessed by lawyers and broadcast on 2Day FM.
Speaking on their show, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, called it the "easiest prank call ever made" and described their mock British accents as "terrible".
In the call, another nurse was tricked into revealing specific confidential information about the duchess's medical condition.

We're going to have a long and careful think about what, if anything, we do”
King Edward VII chief executive John Lofthouse, speaking on Tuesday
The DJs later apologised saying they were "very surprised that our call was put through".
"We thought we'd be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents.
"We're very sorry if we've caused any issues and we're glad to hear that Kate is doing well."
The Twitter accounts of both presenters have been deleted and all references to the prank call recording removed from the 2Day FM website.
SCA said on its Facebook page the company was "deeply saddened by the tragic news" and had extended "our deepest sympathies to her family and all that have been affected."
On Tuesday, hospital chief executive John Lofthouse said he had "received advice that what the Australian broadcasters did may well have broken the law".
But he added: "On the other hand they've apologised for it so we're going to have a long and careful think about what, if anything, we do."
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (Acma) has said it had received complaints about the call.
Radio station 2Day FM has previously been in trouble with Acma for incidents including one when a 14-year-old girl revealed on air that she had been raped.

You can see by how they are wording it officially, that they know they are directly responsible, and caught in damage control.
The prank would obviously be to check in on her, or something is wrong.
Can't wait to hear the DJ's speak on what the prank was, if they aren't already surrounded by hired guns, and lawyers. Them being silenced will be a dead giveaway her security detail probably broke her neck restraining her from entering the room thinking she was crazy, and she stopped breathing.
Dying when injured while in a hospital is a strange occurrence indeed. The prank set something off, they fucked up, and killed someone over their dipshit morning sickness endless media propaganda pro royalty crap, and they realize it.

The poor nurse slipped on a newly waxed wet floor cracking her head and when she attempted to get to her feet again slipped..head went into hospital bed rails and subsequently twisted and snapped her neck as she fell again thus accidentally killing her.
Sources said she was unsteady on her feet that day due to numerous (11) falls down hospital stairs. The woman was clumsy according to Scotland Yard.

I have no evidence, but I'm sure she was suicided. She embarrassed the royal family. She needed to die.
They usually sacrifice little boys after they anally rape them, but why not kill two birds with one stone, amirite?

Accused of having blood on their hands by furious listeners, the Australian DJs at the centre of the UK royal hospital hoax tragedy have been taken off air as the public backlash intensifies.
As the pressure mounts, the bosses of troubled Sydney radio station 2Day FM have suspended until Monday all commercials, after some of Australia's best-known companies, including telecommunications giant Telstra and supermarket heavyweight Coles, withdrew their advertising.
"We understand Australians are clearly angry and upset by what appear to be tragic consequences of the 2Day FM UK hospital prank," Coles announced as news came through of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha.
Social media have been bombarded with comments, many castigating radio hosts Mel Greig and Michael Christian, whose spoof conversation with hospital staff in London, posing as the Queen and Prince Charles, backfired so disastrously.
The duo have deleted Twitter accounts, as a cascade of criticism came hurtling through cyberspace, including reports of death threats.
"Not so darn funny now is it? A British nurse is DEAD for the sake of a couple of cheap laughs. Shame on you!" wrote one angry contributor to 2Day FM's Facebook page.
Speaking at a press conference, Rhys Holleran, the chief executive of Southern Cross Austereo, which owns the popular Sydney-based music station, said Greig and Christian had been offered counselling.
"I spoke to both presenters early this morning and it's fair to say they're completely shattered. These people aren't machines, they're human beings. We're all affected by this," Mr Holleran said.
'Professional support'Amid the storm, there is some support and sympathy for the DJs. Jeff Kennett, the chairman of Australia's national depression charity, Beyond Blue, said the radio pair had no intention of causing any harm and urged the public not to condemn them.
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/64647000/jpg/_64647653_z6mlzr3v.jpgDJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian were said to be "shattered"
"This is an absolute tragedy, but the ramifications of which we've got to make sure we don't magnify," said Mr Kennett, the former state premier of Victoria.
"I just hope that they get our support and that their employer provides them with professional support to help them get through what will be a terrible few weeks."
The management of 2Day insists that no laws have been broken, although the station could end up in court for broadcasting a secretly recorded private conversation.
Experts believe, though, that a prosecution is unlikely; the industry regulator will now decide if legislation or codes of practice have been breached.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will investigate several complaints about the pre-recorded prank.
The radio station has received two warnings from the watchdog over previous stunts.
2Day FM is a ratings powerhouse, especially in the lucrative 25-39 age bracket. It remains Sydney's most popular music network, with an audience share of about 10%.
In August 2009, shock-jock Kyle Sandilands was criticised by former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd after a 14-year old girl revealed she had been raped during a lie-detector stunt.
The controversial breakfast show host has revelled in the notoriety and remains a dominant force in the competitive Sydney radio market.
However, the fledgling careers of two colleagues who until this week were largely unknown to most Australians must now be in doubt.
Michael Christian had basked in the attention that he and his colleague Mel Greig, a former reality TV star, had obtained for their hospital hoax.
"The only bad thing about our Royal Prank… is knowing that I will NEVER EVER top this,'' he posted on Facebook. "Less than a week in the job & I've already peaked."
Station bosses have ordered the pair to keep out of the spotlight before they decide when and if they can return to the airwaves.

It was a bloody joke! The DJ's sounded like the worst imitation of the Royals you could imagine. Everything surrounding this is seriously stupid and flawed. I think the embarrassment should be over how anyone could have been fooled by such an asinine stunt.
The whole thing is out of control. It is making the authorities look like the morons they are.

So the nurse revealed the sex of the baby? I haven't heard the call or followed the details.
Doesn't it seem odd to you? There is no discussion about the Princes being King. Not a word about it. As I contend, they can't field a King because there already is one, albeit an unknown one. So the next heir to the throne will be this child regardless of Sex. That means it is a female.
What we need is for one commonwealth country to vote against changing their constitutions and we are done with these people for good.
